What do you think of this girl's name...
Emmeline?
We would pronounce it "Emmaleen". DH is not sure about it, he thinks people would call her Emily. I love it because it's so feminine and unusual...and we would call her Emme.
Be honest....would this be a name that would torture her through her life? I don't love Emma-line.

What do you think of this girl's name...
It's pretty and I like emme for short, but I think a lot of people would mess it up and your dd would have a lifetime of correcting people.

Agreed. Maybe there is a version of this that can be spelled in a way where it won't be hard to see how to pronounce it?

What do you think of this girl's name...
When I see Emmeline, I would actually pronounce it Emmaleen not Emma-line. It's a very pretty name but people may mispronounce it yes -as long as you like it..go for it. I love Emme for short.

I'm torn....I don't want a lifetime of confusion, but I can't think of another spelling. We don't love Emily because it's common. Our other DD is Olivia and we hear it so often that we are looking for something different.

What about Everly? It is similar to Emily. I believe Channing Tatum & his wife just named their DD that, I think its pretty.

I LOVE this name....but it's too many syllables. Olivia is really pushing it already! We have a long last name. Thank you!

I think we can all guess my name (Jessica), and I'm ALWAYS being called Jennifer, or some variation. Even my neighbor has it in her head that I'm Jennifer not Jessica.

Its true. Every name gets butchered lol. My dds name is Lara (ryhmes with Sarah) and everyone calls her Laura. She gets very angry lol but she corrects them. If you and dh love Emmeline...use it! It is very very pretty

It's pretty. Definitely would get mistaken for Emily though by people not seeing spelling and just hearing it. Little girl I just started babysitting is named Emmalee. When I first heard it, I just assumed it was Emily, but once I saw the spelling realized how to properly pronounce it (which isn't all that different, I guess).

It's pretty. When I first read it, I read it as "emma-lynn", like the daughter's name on Army Wives.
I like Emme. I think it's a nice name. I would just do that. I'm always correcting people with my name and I find it super annoying.

I think it's very pretty and original! Im a teacher and have to deal with pronouncing names at the beginning of the year and it's tough sometimes! I have to say though that emmaline I pronounced the right way when I first saw your post! And I think emme or Emma are perfect nicknames and I wouldn't think Emily right away unless you choose to call her that!

my name is Dani and i had to correct people my whole life and still do. and thats just 4 letters lol!
i love my name and correcting people was annoying when i was younger maybe, but now i dont care.
