What do you use to clean a cut on DC's lip?

What do you use to clean a cut on DC's lip?
DC is 20 months and usually i just use water and a sterile cotton ball.
DC tripped and hit his face and cut his top and bottom lip - what should I clean it with? Peroxide ok? TIA!
