Re: What food stores have the best prices and sales?
honestly i think it depends week to week. some people may not like it--but i think if you take the time and look at your sunday newspaper for coupons...then check the circulars of all your local supermarkets and cross-reference the deals...you can figure out the best place to go for that week.
i tend to open all the ciruclars online in on browser and just look & compare them...usually like 3 at a time. then i'll also go online to coupon sites and look at those too. in all it takes like 20-30 min. a week to figure out the best one...but i think its worth it.
i think pathmark, shop rite & waldbaums tend to have the best deals. stop & shop has really great quality but not always the best prices....but it always changes from one week to the next with any supermarket!

I was at Pathmark last night and they had some good sales. Check out Pathmark.com to see the circular.

Re: What food stores have the best prices and sales?
waldbaums is the most expensive out of the chain supermarkets with king kullen right behind them (i have a good friend who was a manager for many years and always had the listings of where stores rated in terms of their pricing).
pathmark is at the bottom of the scale - usually, it is the cheapest but the pathmark closest to my area is a little far and that particular one, not sure about all of them, but that one is just a little seedy. it's not the cleanest - i would rather go to a much closer store that is clean and bright.
so, i usually go to stop & shop -- they are a step above pathmark in a lot of ways and they are just a little more money but not a lot on the long-run so it is worth it -- they are not nearly as pricey as waldbaums and they are still a nice store so they get my vote.
also - there's a great shop rite on 347 in hauppauge - i like that store when i'm in the area and need to shop.
hth!!

I always shop at Pathmark and I use my Pathmark card and I always save at least $20-$30.

Re: What food stores have the best prices and sales?
Are there Associateds out on Long Island? That is what I find to be cheapest but I won't go alone. Above that I find Pathmark.
Honestly, Waldbaums is the most expensive BUT the most convenient so I usually just end up there.

Re: What food stores have the best prices and sales?
I find PathMark to be the cheapest. Sometimes Stop & Shop too. Waldbaum's has good deals onc ein a while, but their prices overall are MUCH higher.

Re: What food stores have the best prices and sales?
IMO , Jphns farms for meats & veggies , hands down,,
Shop Rite for all other things..
They are both in Plainview too.
Was just @ johns farms on saturday & spent only $140, bought 4 pkgs sausage 3 pkgs chick cutlets 2 packages chicken breasts 2 london broils 2 pkgs (4total) black angus steaks 2 pkgs filet mingoin ( about 6 steaks in each) 1 pkg burger 1 pkg franks
& a few other lil things,,
Yea the place is insane but with all that walkdbaums, shoprit , stop & shop etc would be like $300 easy,,

Re: What food stores have the best prices and sales?
For fruit and veggies, we go to local farmer markets - fresher, better picking than the supermarkets.
We get our bread, eggs and milk from BJ's
The rest of our shopping is split between Stop & Shop (mostly) and Pathmark.
Waldbaums is way too pricey IMO.
