What happened to LIWeddings?
My friend's daughter is getting married. I immediately told her to have her daughter set up an account on LIWeddings because I couldn't have planned my wedding without it. She told me that the forums are really inactive. I just took a quick look and she's right.
I found it rather sad. The forums/brides were so helpful when I was getting married, and it's sad to see it so deserted.

What happened to LIWeddings?
I think it all moved over to Facebook a few years ago-I think with the 2012 brides? Idk for sure, but they wouldn't accept me in their group anyways.
In 2010/2011 they were still super active

I never used LIWeddings since I got married in the dark ages of 1998,  , but I find even here on LIFamilies it's not what it use to be too. The boards are so much quieter nowadays, posts linger and stay stagnant for days if not weeks depending on the board. On the whole, it just seems to be a lot less active.
I remember a time a few years ago when this site was hopping, you couldn't even keep up some days because there was so much posting going on. It's not like that at all anymore, there are days where HOURS pass and nothing is changing on the boards. It's disappointing, I'm finding the whole site a little on the boring side these days.

my friend is getting married in November and she posted a few things on LIW and got no replies really. i looked on there too when she mentioned that and it seems SOOO quiet! when i was on there between 2009 and 2011 it was ridiculously active!

I noticed this about a year ago when I went to search for something on there. It's so sad because that site at one time was more active than LIF. I remember when Newlyweds would stick around there just because they weren't ready to take the leap to LIF. Now it's practically deserted.

What happened to LIWeddings?
Once they changed the layout, I found it kinda hard to navigate and it just isn't aesthetically pleasing IMO. At least LIF is easy to read.

What happened to LIWeddings?
It's just not the same anymore - there are plenty of other outlets to find wedding information through Facebook and other online sites and people just don't use forums like that one anymore. Crazy to think how active it was when I was planning my wedding back in 2005-2006 but just think of how much the internet itself has changed in the last 10 years?
I remember how LIF was the dead zone compared to LIW and it just looks like everyone migrated here eventually and there were no real no people to fill the void.
LIF itself is not as popular as it once was either, since many people just use FB groups instead. In an FB group there is no need to worry about being censored if you give a bad review about something and you can respond directly to people on a thread, etc. Just kind of the natural progression of things that forums are starting to dry up more and more.

I was a 2012 bride and things while active, it was not crazy busy. Everyone moved over to FB because if a bride wanted to post a negative review about one of the paid vendors, LIW would remove the post and on FB brides felt that they have more freedom to say what they wanted. January of 2012 was the last TWOTY

the last TWOTY was 2012?!?! that was the one i went to as a NW. wow thats crazy that they stopped doing that!

LOL i felt like LIF was sooo hard to follow when i first joined!
but i agree LIW new format is tough too

I recently read an article about how all online chat boards are declining and soon will be a thing of the past. I even noticed on here in the past couple of months it's a lot less active. I guess with Facebook and other social media people just don't do the online chat board thing anymore.

I can see this. I often post a status asking for advice, whereas I wouldn't really have done that a few years ago. I also have a bunch of mommy groups I'm in that I use for advice, and that means I don't always have to post here.

I met a ton of great people from LIW (I got married in 2006) - You know what they say - It's just not like it used to be! That is definitely for sure!

Same! I was married the first time in 2010 and was addicted to LIW. When I got remarried in 2015, it just wasn't that active. There was a FB group of LIW ladies that was very active.
