What he hell am I doing wrong?
I'm so frustrated. I eat perfect and exercised throughout my pregnancy until now. I do light walking at this point due to a low lying placenta. I gained 28 lbs in 22 weeks. The doctors at this point are concerned that I've gained 10 lbs in a month. What am I doing wrong? Have any of you gained weight really quick and had issues like this? This can't be normal. I've gained what an average person gains their whole pregnancy. Im so fed up.

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
Thats about what I gained too. I am 30 weeks, and up about 35 lb. Nothing I can do about it. I eat well, and dont snack. I think I put the most on in the 1st tri, because I was eating ALOT to avoid vomiting.

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
At one of my appts I gained 8lbs in like 3 weeks. I am a pretty healthy eater and walk pretty much every day, so I started watching my sodium intake and then at my next appt I actually lost a lb so I think it had to do with my sodium intake.
Bottom line, it looks like you are doing everything right. Your body is going to do what it needs to do for you and your baby, so if you are hungry,ya gotta eat! Only thing I can suggest is watching your sodium intake since that was my issue that I didnt even think about.

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
Yup, I had a month like that too where I gained 10 lbs. My doc gave me a lecture on it as well. I don't think there's anything we can do about it now

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
Thanks girls. I'll definitely watch my carbs and salt intake. That could be part of the problem. What if you don't drink enough too? I'm sure that's not helping.

I thnk its genetics. Some people gain a lot and others barely anything. It is silly to get nuts over things you cant control!

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
I gained 6.5 lbs in 4 weeks (btw 13-17 weeks) between my last 2 appointments despite eating well and exercising. I think sometimes it just happens and there isn't much to do about it. I completely freaked out, but am coming to terms with it. I know it is so much easier said than done, but based on your pics, you look great, so try not to get too upset!

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
Honestly that was exactly what happened to me at that point. . though at my 20 week appointment I had gained SO fast that I knew some of it for me was water retention for sure. . my doc told me to cut out carbs and watch salt and I have been doing that and have not gained any weight since so think I evened off. . actually lost weight the first two weeks (and I was not dieting no one go crazy) and then evened out this time(today at my 30 week appt) basically weigh exactly what i weighed a month ago. . I know it's hard but try not to worry too much. . you will gain what you are supposed to gain as long as you're not pigging out regularly. . I had been really stressed bc I thought if I had gained that much at 20 I would be IN TROUBLE on the long haul. .
also yes, not drinking enough water will also make you retain a LOT bc your body needs so much water now and it's hard to remember to drink in the winter!

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
I feel your pain. When I am not pregnant, I usually work out 3-4 times a week & eat really good. With this pregnany & my first, I just gain weight. I don't get it either. I gained 45 pounds with DS but lost it all. Now I am PG with #2 and I am gaining again. It is more depressing this time around though for some reason. I don't work out because I felt horrible in the beginning & have a 18 month old to watch. I think it is just my body. I am 19 weeks and up almost 20
After the holidays, I am really going to start watching my diet & hopefully it will get warmer so that I can take walks with my DS. I keep telling myself that I am going to get into great shape this summer when I am off and done being PG.

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
I know it can be frustrating to see the numbers go up, but try not to worry so much , your body is doing what it should at this point.
As PP stated it is genetics , and you WILL loose it. Everyone I know lost all their baby weight , at different speeds....I lost 60lbs after my first in 9 months!

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
This is like the story of my pregnancy. I swear.
I have literally sobbed to my OB and he keeps reassuring me it's probably water weight and to keep doing what I'm doing.
Your body is doing what it needs to do to keep that baby girl in there strong.
Some of my friends gained over 50 lbs with their pregnancies, and ended up bouncing back in less than 3-4 months.
The weight gain is inevitable, my advice is keep doing what you're doing (like my OB said). You WILL lose it after the baby's here.

I hope so girls. I just don't want my baby to be affected. What if because of me she's too large at birth or overweight. Can that happen?

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
It is normal to have a major weight gain like that in a lot of women. I gained 11 pounds in 5 weeks...I almost fell off the table..The nurses told me it is normal. The baby is taking what he/she needs..I gained 39 pounds and had an 8 lb, 6 oz baby. My Mom gained at least 50 pounds with me and I weighed 6 lbs...

My friend gained over 60lbs with both her pregnancies and both her girls were just over 7lbs when they were born. The weight you gain does not correlate to the baby's weight.

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
Every pregnancy is different... With my dd, I gained over 45 Lbs..... And I started out heavy. By 4 months I had lost all of it. I was like you, watched what I ate, worked out a lot, I was so angry! But it does come off, infact I had lost 20 lbs by the time I left the hospital... Just keep doing what you are doing, and I'm sure you will be fine. My dr told me that my weight gain really had minimal affect on the size of my baby, other factors like gd do... Good luck!

I'm just worried that this extreme weight gain is going to cause me to get gd. Is that how it works?

. . that usually isn't how it works. . while GD is sometimes associated with early and excessive weigh gain, it is still usually associated with people who are medically obese first. Other factors are age (or 35), high blood pressure, history of diabetes in the family. Of course some women who have no risk factors can still develop this but it really is not the mother's fault especially if you are eating healthy. Also white women have one of the lowest risk factors (and I'm just assuming you're white from pics so sorry if I made a bad assumption)
I thought the same thing - that my weight gain would lead to GD but I am high risk bc of my age and I passed my 1 hour easily

See I think I'm at risk too. I have high blood pressure and their is a history of diabetes in my family. I'm so nervous about this.

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
stop obsessing about your weight gain...you are doing everything correctly...your body just gains weight when you are pregnant...trust me when I tell you that you will lose the weight immediately after giving birth...like in one week. I know what you look like in real life and your body is not meant to carry any extra weight...and it won't! Please relax...and call me at 8 days post birth so I can tell you "I told you so" when you are wearing your size 2's again!!! I promise...it happend to me...
