See I think I'm at risk too. I have high blood pressure and their is a history of diabetes in my family. I'm so nervous about this.
then they will do further testing....and should do it sooner than later if the doctor is concerned...

stop obsessing about your weight gain...you are doing everything correctly...your body just gains weight when you are pregnant...trust me when I tell you that you will lose the weight immediately after giving birth...like in one week. I know what you look like in real life and your body is not meant to carry any extra weight...and it won't! Please relax...and call me at 8 days post birth so I can tell you "I told you so" when you are wearing your size 2's again!!! I promise...it happend to me...
Thanks. I'm not really concerned about me anymore though. The doctors were concerned. This can't be good. They may send me for an early test for GD. I just don't want this to affect my baby.

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
I agree with the PP . honestly you will find out soon about the GD and even if you do have it you really can control it. . and you already seem to be a healthy eater so the changes won't be that crazy. I have a few friends who had GD during pregnancy and while it was a PITA to watch what they ate so closely - they did it, and all had healthy fabulous babies. And one of them was one of the skinniest people I know before pregnancy and three months after is literally back to her pre-pregnancy weight. .
Hang in there and try to relax. . .stress is so much worse for you body than weight gain. You are doing a great job. . and it's super hard but try to relax. .

I had GD the first time with Frankie...it was a very strict diet that I had to follow...it will not be that bad for you b/c you already eat well...the only side effect he had was that he was around 9lbs when he was born...a week early...and i had to have a c-section b/c of excessive amniotic fluid due to the GD. You will be fine!!!
This time I have been tested right from the beginning for GD...no worries...

What are you drinking? I know a lot of women who cut out soda but started drinking a ton of juices and sugary drinks.

For the most part I drink water, but at times I do drink fruit juices!!! Maybe I can cut back on that.

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
I'm just throwing this out there, but my doctor's office sucks at weighing me. Every time I go one girl tells me take your shoes off the other says it's not big deal, one rounds up the other takes some pounds off for clothes. Our due dates are pretty close and I remember when I was going in the beginning that I was wearing a t-shirt and jeans and now I'm in no less than 10 layers and heavy boots. I think right now the baby is telling your body what it needs.
I know you mentioned the doctor was concerned at that is always unnerving believe me I feltl awful when my doctor expressed his concern with me, literally felt like I was the worst mom ever and have not even had my baby yet. I got in trouble on the opposite end and about the importance of gaining enough weight etc. I called my cousin (who's a ob/gyn specialist) in tears. I, like you do, want my baby to be in the best health, but there is only so much we have control over. You are eating healthy, working out (as much as you can), and trying to eat a balanced diet. That's about as much as you can do and control. Your body is going to take care of the rest. You are doing everything right!

Thank You. I felt like that yesterday actually. Like I was a bad mom. I felt like I was doing something wrong and that I would affect my poor baby. I almost felt like its all my fault and I was putting my baby's health at risk!
But you girls have made me feel better about it!

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
I gained 12lb in 4 weeks - but my Dr luckily was not concerned - she was happy I was gaining because I lost so much weight the 1st trimester. I also have a nutritionist and along with the OB - they both said that the baby is going to do what they have to do - A girl next to me at work ate so healthy with her first baby - no sugar at all and gained I think about 50lbs in total. With the second baby she ate all junk and gained only about 25lb. I think it is up to genetics and the baby. Your body is going to do what it needs to do to ensure that your baby is healthy. Def watch your sodium intake and water - also were you weighed on the same day around the same time?? Your body fluctates on a daily basis that could also have something to do with it Good Luck to you

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
I would just say less juice, more water...and I don't know if you eat carbs, but try to replace some carbs with lean meats if you can. i know this is hard because some of us only enjoy carbs....I'm sure the gain will slow down, and even if it doesn't, there could be some reason why you're gaining at that rate. Your baby needs it, maybe you need it. You seem so tiny to start with, so I wouldn't worry too much. However, the best people to ask are the doctors. Hang in there! It could also be a lot of fluid and water
PS: I also had one month where I gained 7 in one month! It stopped after that....and that was around the week in preg where you are now. (not that it stopped, but it went back to 1 or 2 lbs). Also, try and keep track of your own weight gain. Weigh weekly in the morning, pre food and water. I always find the doc's scale 3 lbs more or so,due to time of day and food and water and all that.

were you under weight to start? Nope. My bmi was 21. That's normal. I'm on the smaller size but far from being underweight.

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
I gained 10 lbs in October... And then 3 in November. My doctor said she'd only be concerned if it had continued. She said sometimes that just happens. You have one month where you gain a lot, then everything else is fine.

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
I don't think you're doing anything wrong. Everybody is different & I really don't think you can control what your body is going to do. I've been upset about my weight gain the entire pregnancy. Finally at 36 weeks I've just accepted it. My eating is not out of control & I haven't sent my husband out once because of a craving. I've gained close to 45 & it looks like a lot of water. My feet, ankles, hands and face are so swollen. I keep telling myself because I'm 5'9 I'm going to gain more than the average sized person. Don't know if this is true, but it makes me feel better. I just keep reminding myself I can work hard at loosing the weight after the baby gets here. Easier said than done, but stop worrying about it. I wish did earlier.

Re: What he hell am I doing wrong?
You did nothing wrong...that was me with my first and I remember gaining 9lbs at around the same time. I ended up gaining 45lbs total and I got a speech from my dr. too. Don't be so hard on yourself. One thing I noticed afterwards was I was drinking so much juice. Either apple or oj and that has a lot of sugar.
