What is an acceptable per person price for a baptism celebration?
I was thinking about having it at the same place as my baby shower.
a) Do you think that's cheesy, at all? I LOVED my baby shower location and everyone raved about the food, so I figured it would be okay to do a repeat.
b) It was $32pp for the shower in June. I'm hoping it's a little less for November. If not, though, does that sound like a reasonable price for a baptism?

A good place is a good place! The best thing about a place, that people remember, is the food! My husband and I were having this conversation yesterday and he's going crazy with the cost of it! You're lucky to have the baptism in November! Ours will be in May/June!! UGHHH How many people are you having?

Re: What is an acceptable per person price for a baptism celebration?
I have NO idea! Which is another thing that stinks because I wouldn't even know what number to give. We had 52 women at my shower... but I'm trying to figure out if all the people invited to my shower would be invited to a baptism. For instance, I have some work people who I'm very close with who I would invite, but some that I would feel bad NOT inviting but would almost feel weird inviting to such a personal celebration. I dunno.
I would guess 80?
DH also saw our living community's private clubhouse party room the other day, which was recently renovated, and said it was really nice! It would only cost us $250 for the room, plus the catering. But I'm always afraid this would look "cheap" to guests, but I think that's in my own head. And sometimes, having a party in a room like this ends up costing almost as much as just having it in a restaurant. So, I'm torn...

Re: What is an acceptable per person price for a baptism celebration?
I think the $32pp is very reasonable but that's all subjective.
IMHO, I think baptisms are a very intimate celebration and I would cut my list down to 1) accommodate our budget if necessary and 2) to ensure we could still host it at a location we are "proud" of.
I've been to countless showers where I wasn't invited to the baptism and I never took it personally, I assumed it was closest friends and family and also, that after just having a baby the couple was on a budget.
