WHAT is going on with my 2yr old's sleep? Is this teeth?
DD is 27 months and up until recently was like clockwork with sleep, going from 7:30-6:30 with a 2-3 hour nap at 1:00.
Starting about 2 weeks ago, she started taking forever to fall asleep, then switched to going right to sleep and waking up really late, staying up late and getting up early, never affecting her naps.
On the long nights I think "growth spurt" but can't explain the rest?
The three strangest things happened recently: -Last Saturday she woke up early from her nap HYSTERICAL and fell asleep on me when I rocked her. -On Tuesdaynight she was absolutely fine but wouldn't go to sleep, she was in hysterics, wouldn't let us leave, claimed she had a boo boo in her mouth, gave her Ibuprofen thinking it was 3yr molars, stayed with her a bit, hysterics continued, finally fell asleep at 9 -On Wednesday she was absolutely fine during the day, none of her usual teething symptoms. -On Wednesday night, same as Tuesday though she gave up a lot earlier, but had her fist in her mouth and said booboo medicine.
Is she playing me? There's lots of "mommy stay!" "Mommy snuggle!". I'm not used to this, she has always always loved being by herself in her crib and easy to go down. I hate the idea of her CIO if there really is something wrong with her like teething, but why nothing during the day??
ETA - She got her 2 year molars about 5 months ago and the nights were bad but she was also a mess during the day. Was thinking these could be 3yr molars VERY early?
If you made it this far, thank you!

The boo boo mouth and boo boo medicine comments lead me to believe that yes, it's the molars coming in, I hear they are awful!

Sounds like it could definitely be her 2 year molars. Since they're bigger they take longer to break through, and might hurt more. DS has one that has barely cut through and I feel another one right on the edge. Some night he whimpers when sleeping, a fee night ago he was crying and I knew he was in pain, but he didn't wake up completely. You can try freezing a washcloth and let her chomp on that if it hurts. (I wet half and stick the wet side in an unzipped ziploc and put in freezer)
Maybe adjust your bedtime routine and snuggle a little more before putting her in? Hopefully it passes soon!! Good luck!

Oops, just added in my original post, she got her 2 year molars 5 months ago so I was thinking 3yr molars? A google search said these could come in as early as 25 months? The confusing thing is she's absolutely fine during the day, past teething she has been cranky day and night...

There are no 3 year molars. It's 1,2,7,12, wisdom teeth. is she has 20 teeth then she is done for now. The only thing I could think of is maybe they are finishing coming up? If she keeps complaining maybe bring her to the dentist to see of she has a cavity that could be bothering her? I bring DD and DS to kiddsmiles (currently manhasset but am changing to merrick because its closer to me) and they are great.

dd is also 21/2 ans is doing the same thing. I posted last night and just bumped it for the morning crew.
I have NO idea what is going on. She has all her teeth, not sick, nothing appears to be wrong except her tantrums.
She was also telling booboo mouth/teeth but there was nothing wrong. No it's just screaming fits a night for at least an hour before bed.
I have no clue what to do,

Re: WHAT is going on with my 2yr old's sleep? Is this teeth?
I am going through the same thing right now and I was thinking it was her 2 year molars coming in. She is fine all day but then has been crying when I put her to bed. And not standing up screaming for me like she doesn't want to go to bed cry but laying down like she is trying to go asleep and then whimpering type crying. I don't see any teeth coming in. The other day she did have a low grade temp though. I have started to give her Motrin before bed b/c I feel like she is uncomfortable. No signs of being sick. I'm really not sure what is going on. Last night she took 45 minutes to go to sleep crying on and off and me going in to comfort her once. But then she slept through the night no problem and woke up this morning like nothing happened. I got no clue what is going on. My DD is almost 28 months.

Re: WHAT is going on with my 2yr old's sleep? Is this teeth?
my son is 2.5 and some nights takes TWO HOURS to fall asleep.
this am 4:45, he woke up screaming for me saying his mouth hurt and he "couldnt smell through his nose" He has been having some bad dreams.
Its a rough age, they are SO much more aware and their little brains are in over drive. They remember things and fears become really evident now!
