2yr old sleep issues
DD will be 2 next month and for the last week or so she's been waking up in the middle of the night crying for mommy and daddy. It's not her usual "I'm in pain" cry, more like whining. The first few nights I went in there and tried to calm her down, which worked until I left the room- then she was hysterical. So lately I've been letting her CIO. Anyone else have this happen? Is it just a phase? And am I doing the right/wrong thing by letting her CIO? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

My boys are 19mo. H. has been doing that. He is getting his 2yo molars. I started giving him Tylenol before bed and just let him CIO. I feel bad, but it seems to be working.

Re: 2yr old sleep issues
My DS went through similar but it was bc he was breaking his 2 yr molars. Once they all came through, he went back to sleeping as normal. Now lately he is waking bc of nightmares.

Re: 2yr old sleep issues
I never go into dd's room unless she is screaming. If she's up just whining I let her be. She goes back to sleep on her own. If I do go in, I can expect to be in there for 2-3 hrs. It's a nightmare. She 19 months

Re: 2yr old sleep issues
DS has been doing this as well - he has all of his teeth but, he's been having bad dreams (he also has been talking in his sleep).
I usually go in and pat his back and he goes back to sleep quickly.

Re: 2yr old sleep issues
My DS started waking at night when he was 25 months. He is 27 months now and sleeping in our bed. It was bad, so very bad. At least now we are all sleeping again. DS for 12 hours.
I did notice this week though that 1 of his 2-year molars broke through and the rest are on their way. I thought they were bothering him in Nov when he started waking.
Whether it's a phase or the the teething or both I don't know, but this has been the only time we've had these types of sleeping problems.
Age 2 is tough with sleep it seems from posts I 've read. GL and hang in there. We'll be putting him back in his crib when those 4 monsters break through.
As for the CIO. We never had to CIO before but tried it 3 weeks ago. We got through 10 days of it and then he got sick - fever, cold, ear infections, so we stopped. It's hard to CIO at this age. I have mixed feelings about it. But, if you've tried everything else, I don't see what else is left, kwim. GL!
