What Is going on with Noah? (sleep related)

I don't know whats going on.

He has woken up at 2-2:30 3 times this week, absolutly freaking out. Totally losing it. No comforting him.

Last night, he only wanted DH...He was acting like I was gonna hurt him...scared of me like...running to DH and hugging his leg.

I don't know what to do?

Any ideas?

He does have a tooth coming in. Think Teething could cause this?

TIA!

I blame every sleeping issue either on myself (for creating bad habits Chat Icon ) or teething. It does sound like teething's to blame with Noah. And as for preferring DH over you during that, it's just how he's finding comfort, maybe he thinks daddy will save him from the pain.

Does he go back to sleep though after some comforting?

Not so much. It's been taking till about 4-4:30 am to get him back to bed.

In the past when he woke up yelling for whatever reason. USually if we picked him up, boom he went back to bed. This is an ongoing thing and making us tired and leaving us scratching our heads.

my dd is 19 months old and was up every night this week screaming for at least an hour. I dont see any teeth and I am confused if it could be nightmares or if she is asserting herself and making a push to get into our bed. I am so bad and resort to that sometimes... i just feel terrible once we pass an hour of that screaming!

Sounds like Night Terrors, toddlers can often have them.

That could very well be the problem then. I know sometimes Emma wakes up from a nap, totally hysterical, inconsolable and nothing I do makes her better. She sobs and sobs and loses her breath. She had one of those episodes yesterday. I chalk it up to a nightmare

Yep, thats what it is. Hope it ends soon. It is defintly something "new"...cause I have never seen him this way before and we were soooo confused and upset last night trying to calm him down.

Troy has been doing the SAME thing for the past 2-3 weeks! It got old, fast!

I'd get him and he was inconsolable. Hysterical, sitting on my lap and pushing me away, refusing bottle. Then he'd finally take the bottle- then pass out!

Anyone I have talked to (incl ped) said it's a phase around this age.

We took him to the dr last week, b/c I was concerned- along with the sleep issue, he's had this cough that wouldn't go away. He was fine- no fluid in ears or chest.

Then magically- he did not wake wed or thur night, but did last night.

I dont know. If it's a phase, hope it's over FAST, for ALL of us!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Maddie did the same thing a few weeks ago- but she was also pushing a molar and 2 teeth. She also developed what I think was either a cold or wicked allergies later the next day.

She just wasn't feeling well I think. But she did the same thing- was totally inconsolable.

I agree, Ryan went through this and its the freakiest thing. Totallty inconsolable. We foung the only thing that would being him out of it was baby einstein music.

But until then, it was screaming, crying, throwing himself on the floor, thrashing back and forth, not wanting to be held. As he came out of it, it would take a while for him to calm down and catch his breath.

After a few times we realized it was more likely to happen when he was overtired so we started getting him to bed earlier.

Good luck, its very scary and heartbreaking to watchChat Icon

DS is a great sleeper but he has woken up freaking out a couple of times when his molars and eye teeth started coming in. With the molars he was up screaming for 2 hours without us being able to comfort him at all.
