what is the answer to this math problem?
I know this was done on here recently but i cant get it right now im drawing a blank. HELP
This is a 5th grade math problem. If you can open the spreadsheet, you'll >see it's a very small list of people who have gotten the correct number. >This is not a trick question. This is a real math problem so don't say >that a bus has no legs. > >There are 7 girls in a bus. > >Each girl has 7 backpacks. > >In each backpack, there are 7 big cats. > >For every big cat there are 7 little cats. > > > >Question: How many legs are there in the bus?

Re: what is the answer to this math problem?
k..i'll try
7 girls = 14 legs
7 big cats = 28 legs
7 little cats =28 legs, seven times
so
28 28 28 28 28 28 28 28 14 _______ 148
probably wrong, but i tried
oops - reading is lost on me..lol forgot about each girl having 7 backpacks
134 x 7 = 938
k, so im really special...lol...how do i get 148 for my ans?
224 + 14 = 238
224 x 7 = 1568 x 7 = 10976 + 14 = 10990
think i finally got it....geez...

Re: what is the answer to this math problem?
7 girls = 14 legs 7 backpacks x 7 girls = 49 backpacks 7 big cats x 49 backpacks = 343 cats 343 cats x 4 legs = 1372 343 cats x 7 little cats = 2401 2401 little cats x 4 legs = 9604
9604 + 1372 + 14 = 10,990 Is that right??

Re: what is the answer to this math problem?

7 girls = 14 legs
7 bckpcks for each girl = 49 backpacks
49 x 7 = 343 big cats at 7 per backpack
343 x 4 = 1372 legs on the big cats (4 legs per cat)
For every big cat there are 7 little cats
343 big cats means 343 x 7 which = 2401 little cats
2401 x 4 = 9604 legs on the small cats (4 legs per cat)
14+1372+9604 = 10990

Re: what is the answer to this math problem?
14 human legs. (7 girls x 2 legs each)
Each of 7 girls has 7 backpacks. That means there are 7x7 backpacks or 49 backpacks. If there are 7 big cats in each bag, that's 49 x 7 = 343 big cats. 343 x 4 = 1372 big cat legs.
For every big cat, there are 7 little cats. That means there are 343x7 little cats, which equals 2401 little cats. 2401 x 4 legs each = 9604 little cat legs.
If you add up all the legs, that's 9604+1372+14 = 10990

Re: what is the answer to this math problem?
Assuming all the kids & cats have all the legs they are supposed to , and the backpacks don't have any, its 1099.

Who keeps cats in their backpacks? It's a little inhumane, don't you think?
