10,992. Don't forget to add the busdriver!

This is what I came up with too....thought it was a trick question and most people would forget about the bus driver.

The question says the girls are in the bus. It doesn't say the bus is moving or that there is a bus driver there. The question also specifically states that it's NOT a trick question, so I would assume if anyone else was on the bus, it would have been stated in the problem.

10990?

How I got it:

7 girls x 2 legs each is 14 legs

There are 49 backpacks, so...each backpack has:

7 big cats x 4 legs = 28 legs/backpack
49 littile cats x 4 lets=196 little legs/backpack

28+196=224 legs per backpack

224 legs x 49 backpacks = 10976 plus 14 girl legs = 10990
