What is the best family vacation you have ever taken?
Trying to get some ideas for 2014 maybe even 2015....
Looking for somethign that will be good for everyone, ages 70-3yo.

the outer banks in NC is nice. You can rent a big beach house, the younger people can get in some beach time while the older people can hang out on the deck and read  you can rent jet skis, kayaks, go mini golfing, check out the light houses.
a cruise would be similar-- a little bit of something for everybody. and if you leave from NYC, you have no airfare cost.
I also think Disney is great with something for everybody...
Or- one of the best I ever did with just my parents and my sister growing up was camping in the national parks out west. we went for 2 weeks... stayed a couple nights in each of a few parks. ( GRand canyon, Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Arches National Park, Mesa Verde National Park, Mt. Rushmore....) We always tent camped :-/ BUT there is a company called Cruise America where you can rent an RV that has full water and electric hookups, a little kitchen, etc so its WAY better. Like a moving hotel room We rented one in June with our 3 year old and just went to upstate NY, Vemont. he LOVED it (called it "the bus" HAHA) So we're looking into renting one out west this June to do some of the national parks.

We love our annual beach rental vacation to Hilton Head Island, SC.
And Disney (I wish that could be annual too!!!)

This is something we totally want to do when our boys are older and can really appreciate it!!!

Thanks so much everyone, keep the ideas coming.
Cruising is an option we are exploring, right now I am having issues finding a week that works and yet isnt insanely priced.
Disney is out, we all just kinda feel disney-ed out right now (and we have done that as a family vacation 3 years ago)
we have discussed hilton head or outer banks in the past so I might have to look into it more!

This past March we rented a house in DR and there were 8 families. By far the best vacation ever!! What ever we wanted we had. It came fully staffed too. We had breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner.
The pool was beautiful and you were a staircase away from the beach. The kids ranged from 2-16 and NONE of them complained once they were bored.

I have been going with family to Myrtle Beach, SC for years, good family destination, something to do for everyone.
Also, a cruise would be a nice vacation that would be fun for all.

This! My family loves Myrtle Beach. DH and I try to go every year. My whole family has taken a few trips down there together.

My family (and an extended group of close family friends) have been going to Woodloch Pines pretty much every summer for the past 30 years. We just always have a blast.

What is the best family vacation you have ever taken?
Our first major vacation as a family of three was to Hilton Head Island,SC. We had a fantastic time. We stayed at Disney's resort and it was nice to kick back on the beach, take our son to the children's museum there, and just enjoy being together as a family.
