An undercover cop kept me from being tossed onto the train tracks at Jamaica station years ago when I got mugged. I think that is pretty good.

When I was 6, my mom took me and my baby sister to see the christmas tree lighting at rockefellar center. My grandmother also went. There was literally a stampede but the thing was, you couldnt move. It was so packed! My mom had my sister in one arm with the stroller over her other one, holding my hand and trying not to lose sight of my grandmother. I was falling to the floor and my mom started screaming. A total stranger picked me up and put me on his shoulders. My mom couldnt do anything but let him. He told her if he got out first, he would meet us at the corner of radio city. Which is exactly what happened. We got out first. I remember to this day, I was wearing a fur coat and had layers and layers of clothes on. I was so heavy. He passed me back and forth between his buddies but in the end, it was him that held me the most and who had me when my mom finally got out. What do you offer someone who saves your childs life? She tried to hand him money but he would NOT take it.

Alll I can remember about him now is that he looked a little like Chandler from friends. To this day, my mom lights candles for him and we always talk about him. That was THE nicest thing a stranger ever did for me!

I was on my way back to college on Amtrack when I realized that someone stole my purse in Penn Station. I was already on the train with two bags, so I guess that's why I never noticed my purse missing.

I had NO money but at least my ticket was in my purse, so that was covered. The lady next to me gave me money to get a cab back to my dorm, and the conductor let me use his phone card to call me parents from the train.

They both said at the time that they had college age kids and would hope that someone would help their kids out like this if they needed it.

I had gotten in a car accident and the other person had left and my car was not driveable. I had a cell phone and had called my dad (I was going to Hofstra and going hom to Miller Place during rush hour) and he was on his way, but I was only at Exit 51 on the Expressway on the service road.

So I am sitting in my car crying because I am freaked out and people are honking and a guy pulls up behind me in a Jeep Grand Cherokee (I was in a Cherokee) and comes and knocks on my window. I am sitting there refusing to look at him and he yells "Don't worry, I won't hurt you" so I roll the window down a crack and he says that he will just sit in his car behind me and if I need help before my dad comes to wave at him.

I didn't, and my dad showed about 20 m inutes later and he just left. I wish I got to say thank you, it was really nice.

I was on a subway platform in Manhattan many years ago.

I noticed a disturbed-looking man looking at me. As I moved away, he followed me. I kept walking everywhere in zigzags and he kept following me.

There was a group of people talking and mingling. I decided to go around and around in circles outside the group. The disturbed man kept following me around and around.

One of the men in the group noticed what was happening and started shouting at him, "What are you doing?! Stop following her! What are you crazy?!!" Everybody looked up. And the disturbed man stopped.

The helpful man kept the disturbed man at a distance until a train pulled up. We all got on the train, and the helpful man kept yelling at the disturbed man on the platform as the door closed. I was so thankful for this man who helped me out.

my neighbor across the street who i didnt know then, helped me get into my house when i was locked out


also when i was broken down on the LIE in rush hour traffic in the center lane, a man helped me move my car onto the shoulder
