What is the best way to get quotes for health insurance?
My father asked me to shop around for him. He didn't realize he insurance expired in Dec. and when he went to get something checked out in this month that is when they told him he had no coverage.
He is self employed and only needs it for himself.
I did go to ehealthinsurance.com but the quotes seem really high. I am not sure if it is because he is a smoker and diabetic.
Do I just call each company? If anyone can recommend a broker that would be great too because he isn't opposed to that.

You know, I didn't even think of that . He doesn't have breathing issues so I guess they wouldn't find out.

You know, I didn't even think of that . He doesn't have breathing issues so I guess they wouldn't find out.
FWIW, if he smokes and develops an illness that is directly related to smoking, and you don't check off the box, that is misrepresentation and could result in denying services/cancellation of coverage.

Look into healthy new York. He may qualify. Just google it. It's in the NY state website. I would link it but I'm posting from my phone.
