What is the hardest part?
Everyone says being a mommy is so wonderful and amazing, and I believe that it is, and I cant wait to be a mommy...but what has been the hardest part of parenting so far? Is it not knowing for sure what to do for the baby all the time? Lack of sleep or lack of help? Any feedback would be great.

Re: What is the hardest part?
lack of sleep
making decisions and wondering how they are going to effect the rest of your childs life
finding alone time
finding alone time with DH
leaving the house for a quick minute to the store (it now takes 1 hour minimum to get out of the house)
planning for every "what if"
I guess I really didnt help narrow down the hardest part. IMO it all goes together with the joys of motherhood. Take the good with the bad cause when you look in the eyes of your child when they give you a huge toothless smile or when your 3 year old makes you lay with her then kisses you on the cheek before she goes to sleep life doesnt get much better!!

Re: What is the hardest part?
I could'nt of said it better myself either. I think you hit the toughest parts. Its funny how 1 small errand can really be a whole day event. I can be pooped at the end of the day and DH will ask " what did u do today that your so exhausted" and I'm like " uh, I went to the cleaners" LOL Sounds funny, but its true, right?

Re: What is the hardest part?
I think the hardest part to me is not a specific thing but rather knowing that I can't protect them from everything, knowing that I have to let them make mistakes so that they can learn from them. Knowing that I have to let them grow up and can't shelter them forever. That type of thing. The waking every few hours with a newborn, taking forever to get out for an errand, that kind of thing passes but letting them be independent and worrying when they're in the car or a schoolbus with someone else driving, those things are the hardest to me.

Re: What is the hardest part?
For me one of the hardest parts is just always being torn. I want to spend every waking moment with her. But then I also want to spend time with DH and I need time for myself. Even if I had 10 more hours in the day it wouldn't help because I'd still feel torn. That's one of the biggest things in being a mom that surprised me and it's hard.

Re: What is the hardest part?
Since my son is 7 now I would have to say watching him go off to school on the bus when he was 5, was one of the hardest things, that separation, his independance, he just seemed so young!

Re: What is the hardest part?
The hardest part of being a parent is definintely fear, of the unknown, if I'm doing the right thing. But as everything else, you learn and it's like trial and error.

Re: What is the hardest part?
Knowing that you WILL make mistakes
Running to the drycleaner or deli....you can't just jump into the car anymore.
Seeing that perfect jacket for yourself, but buying your little one the cutest outfit ever...that they wear once. It isn't hard to actually do this, but it is hard when you look into your closet and have nothing to wear.
Seeing movies only on DVD...well we do go to the movies once every 2-3 months but we used to go nearly once a week.
Knowing that the decisions I make today will not only effect me but my child...it is hard to figure out the answers

Re: What is the hardest part?
I totally agree, Lack of sleep and trying to find five minutes to take a shower or read a magazine it really tough. Forget about trying to blow dry your hair! All I can say is enjoy the beginning when they are still immobile and slepp alot... After they turn 1 it's all over

Re: What is the hardest part?
Hmmmmm.....
questioning everything you do and how it'll affect your little one later in life (Mommy guilt!)
lack of sleep
lack of time to yourself
and you ladies had some really good ones....
but then I look at my little babies and I realize that it is all worth it and I wouldn't change it for anything!!!

I totally agree with you 100%
But I have to add my daughter is at this stage if you walk out of the room and she can't see you she starts to cry so now if I have to use the bathroom I haveto keep the door open so she can still see me.
Also Trying to rememberthe last time I watch a regualr tv show lol lol
Its all worth it though

Re: What is the hardest part?
For me the hardest part so far is coming back to work - unfortunatly we just can't swing my not working, so coming back to the city full time has been the WORST (for me anyway)... But when I am home with Michael, the hardest part is feeling rested and getting my house cleaned, since the weekends is my only time for taking care of Michael and the house, I choose to spend my time with Michael!

Re: What is the hardest part?
running out on a quick errand is no longer jumping in the car and going with your keys and purse...its now about 15 minutes to get everything ready and get into the car with the diaper bag, bottles, toys, stroller, etc, etc, etc...sometimes I need 2 more arms...
lack of sleep you get used to after a while...but whats even harder is him sleeping through the night for a week THEN being up every 3-4 hours - its like getting used to the sleep deprivation alllllll over again
And I have to agree with ALL others posted...
and that when you look at your child and he/she smiles back it makes it all worth it
