What is your definition of being "flamed"
I keep seeing people talk about being "flamed" on a thread when all I see is people standing up with a different opinion. When did stating ones opinion become "flaming"? Anyway, it just got me to thinking...what's YOUR definition of flaming.

I would not call it flaming until a name is called and/or someone uses a really rude tone with another poster. But that's also fuzzy, because the definition of rudeness is very subjective.

I'd say it flaming when it gets to be intentionally rude and you just post to antagonize someone.

I think flaming is when someone attacks a poster by passing judgement on them or when they make the argument personal instead of arguing an actual point. For example, calling someone "stupid" for having a particular opinion as opposed to debating the issue at hand.

Re: What is your definition of being "flamed"
I think flaming is very easily defined and I think people know when they are doing it to other people. Yes, an opinion is an opinion but Ive seen too many people get beat down for something they have said by multiple postings. Like some of the others answers above mine, its about being rude, to belittle someone, and not reason with the person based on the inability to stop talking and actually listen. Though sometimes info through emails, FMs, and postings are often skewed, it depends on the actual conversation. Sometimes one has to listen and understand before flaming.
