What kind of bag do I need for Disney parks?
Does it have to be cross-body and very roomy? How does the whole thing work there? I heard you need to check certain things in at the entrance?
Please share!

I always bring a back pack. They do check your bag up front, but then you're good to go.

There is no specific type of bag that you have to bring. I used a backpack when we went but, I had an infant and had a bunch of things in there. Will probably use a backpack next time as well but, possibly a smaller one.
They do search your bag as you enter the park.

Re: What kind of bag do I need for Disney parks?
yup... backpack. we just got back about 10 days ago and used a backpack and it worked out fine. they check them before you go in, but then you're good to go. we had some snacks, water bottles, etc in there and nobody said anything. when you're on the rides you can keep the bag with you on most of them. although we had my parents with us, so on some of the rides they would stay with the bag while we rode.

I use a mini Vera Bradley bag and it works out fine. You can bring your bag on all of the rides.

We always take a back pack. I also try to avoid bringing an expensive bag to theme parks. I don't want to worry about my bag being stolen.
We usually only take our room cards and/or a credit card. Going forward, we will probably only need our magic bands so no need for money/credit cards at all.

Like a lot of people already said, backpack is the way to go. Keeps your hands free and is easy to lug around.

Got a nice size backpack for Disney. Used it as the carryon on the plane and then to the parks each day. Also had a cooler bag with us to keep sandwiches, drinks, snacks, etc.

Re: What kind of bag do I need for Disney parks?
What do you need or want to take with you? As long as you don't bring hard sided coolers or glass jar/bottles you are good. If you want you can rent a locker in the front of the park. Some leave things on a stroller (if you bring need one).
Cross over bags or backpacks depending on how much you bring in with you are the easiest. Packages can be delivered to the front of the park if you shop for pick up later that night if you are off site.
Bring something easy to carry, lightweight. You can bring it on all the rides BUT if it is overstuffed it might be hard to store. Most rides you just put it at your feet- roller coasters are tougher. They have pouches on some but if it is too big it can be hard. Just remember it is hot and if it is too bulky it won't be fun to carry.
We try to limit ours to suntan lotion, one small snack like a granola bar for the kids and one bottle of water each. Finally, allergy meds. We do carry ponchos but only on rainy days and try to leave them in our stroller. I think your kids are older but if you have a 5 yr old having a stroller to leave non essentials in and just park and retrieve when your child is tired is another option.
Oh if you think your kids will want to play in the interactive water play areas at MK or EPCOT maybe put them in their suits and pack a really lightweight outfit to change into (or shirt to change).

Re: What kind of bag do I need for Disney parks?
DH always brings a backpack. I hate backpacks so I usually bring some kind of crossbody medium sized bag - not too big, not too small. Easy to get on and off rides with. It really depends on what you think you'll carry. I usually have diapers, wipes, snacks, often a change of clothes for my youngest child, sweatshirts, camera, small wallet, autograph books, small activity for my youngest who did a lot of waiting while other were on rides or when on long lines, sometimes sunblock or rain ponchos depending on time of year and weather report, etc. I'd bring a small soft cooler with drinks that would fit in the stroller basket and I don't mind if it got stolen (not that I ever had any issues like that).
