Thank you SO much
I cut school and spent the morning with him. He's still in the ICU and still in congestive heart failure, but he's very much awake and glad to have the company.
He's lost about 13 lbs of the fluid now (with the help of medication) and has a little bit of his appetite back. They're going to keep him for a week or so because his breathing is nowhere near normal and his blood is too thick to return to the heart in a timely manner (the bottom # of his blood pressure is only about 38-40.)
His condition is still very serious, and my Grandmother is a wreck. I helped fill out the living will/healthcare proxy paperwork and thankfully, thats all on file now.
We're just hoping to have him home for Christmas...even if it's on a gurney in the living room.
I can't say enough about everyone at the VA Hospital - everyone I came in contact with was so caring and concerned, so sweet, and so helpful. I'm grateful that he's there.

I'm so glad I can come here at let it all out --- my Grandpa is such a family "pillar", and everyone's a mess. You try to be strong for everyone else, you know? Then let it all out later...

Nic - I truly hope your grandfather continues to get better

Thank you all SO MUCH
I probably sound like a whiny little kid through all this!
Fortunately, I've never really had to deal with much illness in my family (and NO death), but I just feel so overwhelmed.
As for MY health, back to the hematologist/oncologist tomorrow, between work, school, and grandpa visits. This is a rough, ROUGH week.
