Re: does it bother you
I do find it annoying, and I do see a difference between using abbreviations like LOL and PIMP and something like: "R U going 2 go there b4 work?"

so, do you classify yourself in that category as well?
which 1
on the internet, i shorthand some or most of the time... as a professional who sends out emails all day to various levels of management, you speak business. With a personal email, I suppose I guess it matters who you are talking to and the type of conversation.
i guess you can say, the internet has its own rules for some words
but going back to the students (young kids), if they continue learning and speaking with "internet talk" they will have a hard time growing up and adapting with the rest of the world.
i was actully referring to the fact that you abbreviated the word people. either you did it on purpose or didn't realize that you were contradicting yourself by then saying that these "ppl" don't know any better.

yes-- I mean to have to shorten a word like for, are, to, or anything else under 5 or 6 letters is annoying.
Terms like Sister in Law (SIL) or talk to you later (TTYL)other longer words or phrases don't bother me at all though-- in fact I wish everyone knew the LIW/LIF abbreviations!

Me too! Why have the Lingo option at the top of the board?
I never abbreviate for work. For some reason, when I'm posting on here I usually wind up editing my posts for clarity since I type too fast.
