What protein to make with pierogies?
I am drawing such a blank - I plan to make pierogies for dinner tomorrow but I don't know what to make with it. I did pretzel chicken tenders last night but forgot I had the pierogies!

DH's family always serves pierogies with kielbasa. It is their holiday meal for every holiday- christmas eve, christmas day, easter, etc.
You could do any type of sausage too, something hearty.

I make perogies with anything. Its a starch so chicken, beef, pork.

What protein to make with pierogies?
I just serve them as a side dish like I would potatoes.
I boil them and then transfer them to a sauté pan with butter and onions and cook until browned. Then we like to dip into sour cream...my kids especially.
If your going the traditional route I'd say with some polish sausage, you can sauté that with the onions also or even do a sauerkraut and brown sugar with it.

I serve as a side, but my mom can almost only eat them with kielbasa and sauerkraut. She just sautés everything all together.

Kielbasa, ham, or hot dogs. Any kind.... Turkey is fine.

I'm Polish and will usually eat them as a meal (doing a mix of meat and the potato ones). If I make a protein with them, it's only ever kielbasa.

I'm a Polish/Eastern European mutt... I eat potato and cheese pierogi just with sour cream and sautéed onion. But I've had it in the polish restaurants with finely diced kielbasa on top sautéed with onions and butter... Yum. This is making me miss my grandmother's pierogi so badly!

This is how I make them as well.
It's only myself and my grandmother in my family who know how to make them from scratch, so we make a combination of the pot cheese/farmer cheese and sauerkraut served with Kielbasa

I had never ate a pierogie so I picked up a box of Mrs Ts cheddar and mashed potatoes. I'm sure the homade ones are delicious. Are the frozen Mrs Ts any good? I'll probably try them tomorrow.
