What the heck do I do? ( re: Pooping on the potty?)

I'm ready to put him back in diapers....

Its been over 3 weeks now. Like I have written before, Picked up peeing on the potty in one day. Had 2 accidents since.

He has pooped on the potty ONE time and it was aprtial accident, he was peeing and the poop slide out he said Chat Icon .

Every freaking day its in his pants/underwear and then he goes to take them off and gets it all over his legs and feet. He has loose poop so its so gross.

I'm not acting mad , I dont wanna scare him any further, but I can have this every day.

ANY suggestions??????

Now that he has the peeing down I would try pull ups! Chat Icon

Or what about putting his big boy underwear inside the pullup?

DD is also awesome w/ pee pee on the potty but refuses to poop. She'll even sit there for 30 minutes & say nothing's coming & then ask for her diaper & 5 minutes later poop (if I don't diaper her, she'll do it in panties & its a big mess).

He yells for underwear and I do sometimes put a pull up on...but I feel like its a step backwards. I feel like he won't ever get it. I looked and its been exactly a month since we started potty training. He doesn't go the same time either so I can't like look out for it and be prepared. Will he eventually get it??

I want to say yes, partly for you and partly for me. Chat Icon

I think, eventually, they will be so uncomfortable in the pull up that they will go on the potty.

That's my theory for right now.

When I first watched that free Huggies potty training DVD and they said that accidents happen for an average of 10 months after being trained, I laughed but for us, its been about 3 months and DS still has accidents.

I joke that if we lived in a nudist colony, DS would have been trained after 2 days but when he has undies or pull ups on, he slips up.

Dont worry, he will get it eventually but I would stick with the pull ups for now to save your poor washing machine. Chat Icon

Eddie did this too! He still does it sometimes! What works is rewarding him, or offering a reward if he does do it. So the few times he did, off to TRU we went. I talked to him about it too and asked why he didnt want to poop on the potty and he said bc he was scared too.

We had a talk about how his belly wont hurt and he will feel better. About how everyone poops on the potty and see, we are all OK.

It just took A LOT of coaxing. Tonight was the first time he actually TOLD me he had to poop and then did. Normally, you can tell bc he gets panicky, and starts pacing around the living room, or crying telling us his belly hurts. When we pick up on those signs, we start the bribing.

I also bought a giant bag of lollipops which I keep on the table in the kitchen so the temptation for one is always there, but he knows unless he poops on the potty, he cant have one. So that helps.

We also put the potty on the floor in the living room, so he would relax and just be distracted by the TV or a book, or a toy.

Exactly how old is Noah now? I swore I was going to send DS to kindergarten in diapers. One day he wanted to see all his underwear. I told him he could wear some IF he would only go on the potty. He said ok and picked out his own undies. From that day on he has been potty trained after I had totally given up. We have had a few accidents, but nothing major. And DS was just like Noah. With the popping. He will get it, I promise. For now I would stick with pull UPS til he tells you he's ready. I hope this helps you!

I promise you one day soon it's going to end.
Ayla trained the same way. she was petrified of going doods. she'd go in the shower or in her pants. It was gross. I was freaking b/c I was pg and I had the fear of her doing this when the baby was born- there was just no way b/c I have to stop everything and clean her. It took about a month before she got it. It just happened. Noah will get there. I know exactly how you feel.

We have the same problem...pee is no problem and he will tell me right away..even go on his own. Poop...never in the potty and it drives me crazy.

I will say that with time it has gotten somewhat better. Now at least he tells me he has to poop and asks for a pull-up. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: What the heck do I do? ( re: Pooping on the potty?)

We had many days like that I thought I was going back to diapers...but then I started to give a toy every time she pooped for the first week...(we actually had left over toys hidden in the basement from us and family from Christmas that we never gave out and we fig we would stagger them throughout the year - thank god! So we never actually had to buy anything..lolChat Icon

then the 2nd week we started to take away one of her favorite toys if she had an accident and when she next pooped on the potty she would get it back! SO it worked out that we didnt have to give any new toys!

by the 3rd week the toy thing was phased out and she was going more bec she had to go instead of being bribed!

good luck..ugh..hardest thing Ive had to do as a mother to date ...lol cant *wait to do it again with DS...lol

Re: What the heck do I do? ( re: Pooping on the potty?)

If you find the magic answer, let me know. DS has been peeing ont he potty for almost a year now, but now poop. He holds it all day until we put on an overnight diaper then he goes within 5 min and asks to be changed. We've tried bribery, treats, stickers and even went so far as to try taking away a toy and returning it when he went. Nothing has worked. Now he has regressed all of a sudden with the peeing and pees in his pants first, then finishes on the potty after he's alreayd wet (this may be new baby related). I'm dying for a way to get him to go on thepotty cause he'll also complain his tummy hurts, but hold it till he gets a diaper or pullup.

Re: What the heck do I do? ( re: Pooping on the potty?)

8 mos with josh to poop on potty!!

i have seen it all. he stopped going in his pants...he would stand next to toilet, take off pants and go on the floor. forever.

i would get mad...he came up with the plan to ask me for a bag to poop in. so yes, i would hand him a bag, he would poop in there and hand it back to me. this kid is the quirkiest little dude i have ever met. who does that???

now, still his rear end does not make contact with toilet.
he takes off his clothes...stands on toliet and squats! no mess, i don't care.

the only way i got him to even stand on toilet was because i bribed him with waterballoons, first in the bathtub at night. when that got old, i let him throw one at leo as he walked in the door.

I would say pull ups but if you don't want to go that route - they make these plastic training pants that are like lined underwear - they are washable - and you can buy a small package of them. I saw them in the harmon section of BBB.

Etd to add that those are meant to go over the big boy/girl underpants.

Donna, I know you don't want to hear this but L did this EVERYDAY for a month. I never caught him in the act either. Then one day I was going down stairs and he was in the living room and I looked at him and he told me to go away. I knew he was trying to go. I whisked him to the bathroom, hugged him to keep him on the toilet and he went and from then on he went.

I am right there with you.

DS has been going pee pee on the potty for quite some time now. He won't tell us that he has to go, but if we can get him on the potty regularly, he will be fine.

WILL NOT GO POOP! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon He has gone poop on the potty I think 2 times in the last 4 months. He knows when he has to go because he will go hide under the kitchen or dining room table. I can smell poop, ask him if he has poopie and he will look at me and flat out say NO. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I had been trying to potty train him, got him a big stack of big boy underpants and he was wearing them, but the poop accidents were just too much for me. He is now in pullups.

I just don't have the energy. I figure he will get it someday. A light will go off in his little head. Until then, I am right there in frustration with you. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: What the heck do I do? ( re: Pooping on the potty?)

Thomas has been in underwear since February. He had a lot of pee pee accidents in the beginning. He still occasionally has an accident.

He has never had a poopie accident (knocking on wood)...

A boy in T's daycare class, did excellent with pee pee... little to no accidents, but refused to poop on the potty. He would just go in his underwear. The mother was mortified. The parents tried keeping him naked at home. He just pooped on the floor. I remember the father telling a teacher how he may as well been an elephant at the zoo. LOL They kept him in underwear and just kept changing him. I actually think daycare threw a lot of his underwear away. The teachers swore that this was common and eventually he would get it and poop on the potty. It did last a few months, but eventually he got it! He is now totally trained and pees AND poops on the potty!

Hang in there!
