What the hell is wrong with people
There is a news story going on in my town. This mothers two year old daughter has been missing for 5 weeks and she never bothered calling the cops to report it.

It's remarkable down here. The mother is 22 years old and says that she was scared to call police because in "the movies" the child always dies when the parents call the police.
22 years old and can't seperate movies from life?

sounds like an excuse...and didn't anyone else notice the child was missing?
eta- and so far everything she has told them has turned out to be false

After reading that story I don't think the child was actually abducted.
I think the mother did something very shadey... and now is lying to cover her tracks.
She told police that she left her at that woman's apartment on June 9th- but the apartment hasn't been occupied since February...
All very bizzare. This mother is somehow involved in this little girl's disappearance...
Very sad....

Without reading the story and just seeing the replies on here. I think the mother has something to do with it. HOW don't you report your child missing?? Than not answer questions.
Somethings definitely shady with the mother.

Just saw this on the news and wanted to climb throught the TV and smack that "mother" when she was SMIRKING be walked out of Jail. POS. That poor little girl.

What a POS! I think she definitely did something to either harm that poor little girl, or put her in harm's way. I swear, I wish people needed to be licensed to have children.

I pray that this little girl is ok as well. However my gut instinct tells me that just is not the case. This story is making national headlines and it is highlighted during every single commercial break. You would need to be living under a rock, alone, with no access to computers, phones, highway signs, and people on the street. EVERYONE is out looking for this girl and everyone is talking about her.
I just don't think there is a corner of FL that she could be hidden in.
What do you guys think about the grandparents. On 1 hand I completly feel for them on the other hand there is NO WAY either set of grandparents in my family is goig 5 weeks without talking to their grandson. I would imagine that at 2 years old the grand daughter would always be asking for her grandparents since she was just living with them. I don't know, 5 weeks before they notice anything odd too. Plus I saw an interview that was lacking emotion, lacking pictures, lacking te begging that family does when family disappears...ya know? If this was my graddaughter I would be on every dtation holding a picture, crying, begging, pleasing for her return.

Even if she did not want to call the cops, don't you think she would have asked around if the babysitter and little girl were seen or ask neighboors if the little girl had ran out. I mean people would remember her asking if they had seen her daughter.
And what about being in being away while your kid is gone.
Unless this is MUCH MORE to the story. Like the mom is involved in shady deals and her kids was taken from her (very possible!!!) by someone who wanted the mom to pay a debt. Very "out of a movie" kind of possibility but still possible. But at this point, why not tell the cops after 5 weeks what happen if it was the case.
Just saying the babysitter took her and she dropped her to a place that was vacant makes no sense. Unless she has no idea how to cover something she did.
Sad in any cases!

Caylee Marie Anthony has been missing for more than a month.
Her mother, Casey Marie Anthony, told investigators she dropped Caylee off with a friend on June 9. Authorities have been unable to locate that woman, or verify just about anything else Anthony told them.
The mother finally reported the girl missing on Wednesday.
A neighbor told authorities on Thursday that she had borrowed a shovel a month ago.
Anthony was arrested for child neglect and providing false information to law enforcement.
