What Treadmill to purchase & cold weather gear

I have done my first, two 5Ks in the last couple of months and doing the turkey trot on Thanksgiving Chat Icon. I ran last night and it was cold, not too cold but I don’t think I can handle running below 40 degree weather. I hope and pray T-Day is a good weather day. Maybe if I get the right gear for it may help… If anyone has any suggestions on that that would be great! My ears were slightly cold when I was running and my knees were a little chilly. I did not wear a hat or gloves-I'm always switching between running apps on the phone while I run.

I am looking to get a treadmill not too expensive but reasonably priced. This is my first treadmill purchase and I’m not sure where to look, where to go or what brands are better than others. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Insulated running tights!

They have head/ear bands that have a hole for your hair.

Generally speaking I run in shorts a short sleeves over 40 degrees (I get hot quickly). Layers are essential. I use wicking tanks and t shirts as a first layer.

Also gloves...just having feet and hands warm make a difference.

As for treadmill, if you run you want a wider belt 20+". Incline and speed according to what you want to use it for.

Now might be a good time to get wicking (sometimes called "technical") tanks and Ts at discount prices at a running store. Runner's Edge in Farmingdale is well liked. Super Runner in Huntington has a new owner, I'm trying to feel them out (they took away my club's discount). A lot of my running shirts are from races too.

You might like to get some compression tights. They are not as warm as insulated, but they help your legs while you are running. But they can be on the expensive side.

You can go to a running store for some ideas, but right now they will be full price. You could search online for better deals.

I have a pile of old socks that I use for gloves that I can thrown away when I get hot - not fancy, but does the job. I'm usually sweating by mile one.

30-40 - wicking T/tank + long sleeve T (wicking or cotton) + tights

Below 30 - I throw on a zip up hoodie, cap and "gloves" + tights - I have insulated sweatpants that I might put over compression tights. In that kind of cold - I'm not running for speed.

Under 20 without wind - same as above. With wind - I'm inside. I'm also inside with freezing rain (32-40 +rain)

Erica - we are so similar in terms for running attire!

Under 20 without wind - same as above. With wind - I'm inside. I'm also inside with freezing rain (32-40 +rain)

More or less the same here. Snow I am fine in - rain between 32 and 42 - no way! I will run with a windchill of up to 10 degrees - no single digits!

-----------------------

40 or above (no wind) - shorts, short sleeve technical tee and usually a long technical tee, which I take off after a mile or so, ear warmer

35-40 (no wind) - running tights/pants, short sleeve technical tee and usually a long technical tee, ear warmer, gloves (I have a million of those $1 stretchy gloves that people have when they are kids!)

20 -35 - running tights/pants, short sleeve technical tee and usually a long technical tee, running fleece (I have two different types - one for "warm" weather, one for "cold weather), ear warmer, gloves (I have a million of those $1 stretchy gloves that people have when they are kids!)

10-20 - running tights/ AND pants, short sleeve technical tee and usually a long technical tee, warmest running fleece, ear warmer, gloves

--------------------

When you go out running, you should be a little chilly since you will warm up. Layers are key in the winter.

Thanks so much ladies. This really helps. I bought a pair of smart touch gloves from five below and they work great. They were $3! I just have to get a few more to stock up if I have to throw out a pair.
