Re: What works better for "cramps"

I can't take either, only Tylenol.
Use a heating pad or hot water bottle, the heat helps soothe.

Re: What works better for "cramps"

Motrin works better than Advil for me but I've found that Aleve works well for cramps too.

Re: What works better for "cramps"

I take 2 extra strength tylenol and it works wonders for me. My primary doctor said that Ibuprofin is a muscle relaxer/blood thinner and could make your cramps worse and AF come more. Also - isn't Advil & Motrin the same thing ??? 200mg ibuprofin per capsule ?

Re: What works better for "cramps"

ok for those who asked if it is the exact same thing... I mean does one BRAND work better than the other.

For those who told me to take tylenol, aleve etc... LEARN TO READ. I have MOTRIN and ADVIL.... THAT's IT.

Love,
Caroline's cramps

Re: What works better for "cramps"

IIRC, Motrin works better for most people because Motrin has more ibuprofin in it than Advil does (assuming you compare "regular" strength to "regular" strength, etc). It's only a slight difference, but that makes a difference for some people. Other than that, there shouldn't be a difference if you are taking the same amount of ibuprofen. The excipients (inactive ingredients) in OTC drugs like Advil and Motrin shouldn't make a difference in efficacy, but could make a difference in tolerance (stomach upset, etc.) in RARE circumstances.

Naproxen is not a muscle relaxer. It's an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug).

It does reduce inflammation (which will can muscle stiffness), but it's not a "muscle relaxer." (Neither is ibuprofen, btw.)

Re: What works better for "cramps"

HeHe, I thought Advil and Motrin were the same too, just different manufacturer's. Aren't they both 200 mg ibuprofen?

Anyway, Advil is like a wonder drug for me. I take 3 or 4 for a killer migraine Chat Icon Nothing else works, not even Excedrin Migraine. So they most certainly would help cramps if I got them!
