Re: what would you do?
Planning on kids? If so, be prepared to pay 45k In tuition. If not, I would choose the city. Love bayside tho, it's safe and has good schools.
Sorry I was not very helpful it's a tough choice!

Re: what would you do?
Paying for a spot is fine. As far as schools, is it possible they will improve in 6 years? Being an adult is hard
Bayside will only be a consideration if the house is under a 5 min walk to the LIRR.

Bayside. but I love queens - I'm a queens girl. I'd live in the city if I was single but family wise I'd say bayside has everything. Public Schools in bayside are great... There's always specialized high schools if you don't want to do private/catholic schools. Everything is convenient... City - Long Island ... But u have to do what's best for u.

I don't think the schools will be better in 6 years, most of the people we know in the NYC have their kids in private.

#1 all the way!
I wouldn't bank on schools getting better however not all public schools in the city are bad. You have district 26 in bayside which is supposed to be great and many people still use the private schools. You may also get a better return on your invest on #1 especially the harlem option and then you can always move in 6 years. GL!
