What would you send to a grieving family

One of my DH's soldiers was KIA in Afghanistan the other day. On behalf of the Troop I need to send the family something. What would you suggest sending them? I feel like everyone sends flowers, so I want to skip that. Any ideas? I'm looking to spend around $50.

I'm sorry for your DHs loss.

You could do a donation in his/her name. A platter of food from a local restaurant or deli.

I would send food too. Maybe a nice deli platter. BC I am sure they don't want to cook and sometimes greiving ppl don't even eat bc they don't feel like preparing something. We've done that before and it's always appreciated.

Sorry for your Dh's loss.

ITA - or gift card to a local place where they can order food.

I've also sent edible arrangements which people tend to love

I usually send a tray of baked ziti and a salad. I know it sounds silly, but it's usually appreciated.

Any kind of food is the best thing at such a busy time for them. Sorry for your loss.

I am heartbroken over the thought of $50 gift = a life Chat Icon

(nothing against the OP, she didn't have anything to do with the loss of life, it's just a sad situation to be in Chat Icon )
