What's easier - Diapers or Potty Trained kids?
I know some people hate diapers but I have to tell you, I think they are VERY convenient.
Now that I bit the bullet and potty trained Jack over the weekend I feel anxious ALL THE TIME. Is he going to pee? Will he make it to the bathroom when we are out? Will he tell me he has to go?
Potty training seems like a hell of a lot harder than diapers.
It does get easier - right???????

Having only participated in potty training once (with a boy I babysat about 16 years ago ) I will say that I think diapers are SO much easier, I don't even mind the clean up that much, and the only real benefit I see to potty training is saving money!

Re: What's easier - Diapers or Potty Trained kids?
For me, potty trained is WAY easier. Luca has better bladder control then I do! We just wentto Virginia for Memorial Day Weekend- a 6 hour roadtrip. And DS didn't need to pee once either direction. Even I had to stop to pee.

In the beginning it feels like that, but trust me, once Tyler is a toddler and you need to change him you are going to say "when will he be out of diapers!"
Give it a week or 2 and you really won't think about it.

Potty training is SOOOO much easier. After about 2 weeks they learn better bladder control and it really is easier. You dont have to bring diapers and wipes everywhere. Yes, when they have to go they have to go right NOW but I'll take that anyday over the MAN POOP I was cleaning up for my 3 1/2 year old. LOVE not changing diapers on my toddler!!!

Potty Training 100%. Its like a new found freedom when your child is potty trained. Diapers are easy when they are very little. But when they become toddlers all you want is for the diapers to go away and for them to be trained.

Re: What's easier - Diapers or Potty Trained kids?
I was thinking the same thing. Since my failed potty training event a few weeks ago, it just seems diapers are easier.
I'm a lazy parent not anxious to give up on the diapers and deal with bladder control issues
Of course, I will, I'm just not looking forward to it anymore

Re: What's easier - Diapers or Potty Trained kids?
It seems like diapers would be right now being that your DS is just getting the hang of it.
BUT I will tell you that after a few weeks, you're going to be so happy that he is potty trained! :)
Just make sure to throw a towel over the car seat and keep 2 changes of clothes and underwear (I used to carry around 5 of underwear).

Re: What's easier - Diapers or Potty Trained kids?
I thought diapers were much easier
It does get easier...give it a few weeks, but once DD was starting to tell me she had to go, it was easier.
I still have her in a pull-up at night...and I know I have to tackle this process and get rid of the pull-up...but it is soooo much easier for me this way I promised myself that when the box of pull-ups is gone...that's when I will do it

Both my boys trained easily and with no issues but I stil say diapers were so much easier. I was in no rush to train my boys - I waited until they pushed it. So my vote is diapers. But yes it does get easier!!! You get less nervous and they get more control.

Re: What's easier - Diapers or Potty Trained kids?
potty trained is easier here. My girls are great at holding it so we rarely have to go in public. It is kind of a pain when they both do have to go and all 3 of us have to squeeze into a tiny nasty bathroom stall. But I don't miss diapers one it!

Re: What's easier - Diapers or Potty Trained kids?
I just made the switch to big boy undies too. DS was poopy trained for a long time, since last fall, but could not get a handle on pee pee.
It seems to have finally have clicked. I do find Pull ups easier, just because I don't have to worry about finding a bathroom everywhere I go, or a puddle on the floor.
However, all kids have to do this sometime, and I am sure it gets better. I love to just bring DS to the bathroom, quick in and out, but the worry of a mess is always present.

Re: What's easier - Diapers or Potty Trained kids?
DIAPERS!
DD is potty trained + I'm 36 weeks pregnant + out shopping yesterday = stopping in every store bathroom along the way.
Sure, she had no accidents and for that I'm grateful, but it's such a PITA it is to manage everything in a tiny bathroom stall with this giant belly and a curious toddler.
At one point I took out my travel seat for her, put her on, she did her business. She flushed the toilet (with her hand ) and then I said wait, now it's mommy's turn. And she tried to push me down onto the seat because she didn't understand why I was hovering.

Re: What's easier - Diapers or Potty Trained kids?
In the long-run, definitely potty trained, IMO. Although, as a former 2 under 2 mom, I could NEVER understand when people would tell me, "I could never deal with two in diapers!" What? It's so EASY!
The only issue I have is when DD needs to use the bathroom EVERY time we go out to eat (actually, she's pretty much out of this phase now) because DH has never taken her. Never. Thinks it's "inappropriate" or something. So now I'm going to be dealing with two of them...and you know it's going to be one after the other...not together. Oh, how I'm hoping this one is a boy for that reason. I'm sure DH will come up with some excuse in that event though...

Re: What's easier - Diapers or Potty Trained kids?
It will get easier, DS is still pretty newly trained, but I think it's easier. He doesn't like getting wet, so he is more likely to run to the bathroom then he was to lay down for a diaper change, wrestling a 2.5 year old for a diaper change is no fun in my book. My biggest fear is our long car ride this summer and how many stops I am going to have to make btwn potty stops for my 2 year old and feeding stops for the baby I also cloth diaper, so for me its a ton less laundry!
