What's the best time for a baby shower?
I remember reading a few posts a couple of weeks ago about having a shower late. I know for my SIL we threw hers when she was about 29 weeks. For my BFF, we threw her shower at about 34 weeks- due to her need for total bed rest until then. As a pregnant woman, when do you think is the best time for your family/friends to throw you a baby shower; as far as your ability to be the most comfortable and enjoy the day?

I will be 34 weeks. I didn't want it any later. I am glad it's kind of early. I need time to prepare everything.

Re: What's the best time for a baby shower?
I would have loved to have had mine by now or in the next week or two, but that's not happening I'm 31 weeks now and I don't know exactly when my shower is, but I think it's early April and I'll be about 35 weeks then, which I think is a little late. I put my 2 cents in a while back but apparently it fell on deaf ears. Having it late, just seems like it's rushing things. I would love to have time to get the nursery together , put things together, clean the clothes, buy items we didn't get at the shower, etc. I will be so tired by then (I'm assuming because I already feel that way now) that it will be hard to get all of that done while still working and also do all of the other last minute preparations !

Re: What's the best time for a baby shower?
I think I was around 31 weeks when I had mine. It was perfect timing IMO. It gave me more time to get everything together because the weeks fly by and before you know it you have no energy for anything!!

Re: What's the best time for a baby shower?
When I had mine I was 34 almost 35 weeks and it wa a little rough....What was hard was I was so uncomfortable and all the gifts had to be put away, the babies clothes washed etc....If it were not for my mom everything would still be sitting in that room

I had mine at 37.5 weeks and he was born 10 days later and we got everything done in time. IMO, you can't really complain if someone is throwing you a nice party and people are giving you gifts.

I had mine this weekend. I was a little over 33 weeks. I felt it was perfect. Not too early not too late.

Re: What's the best time for a baby shower?
I dropped a few hints that I would rather have it earlier than later.
I think my mom got the point. She mentioned something about late July which would make me 32-34 weeks.

Re: What's the best time for a baby shower?
I had mine at about 36 weeks and it had my in agony!! I wished it were sooner because by about 28 weeks, my ears were perked for clues and it felt like forever that I had to wait for my day to come

Re: What's the best time for a baby shower?
Mine will be at 31 weeks (2 weeks from today) and I think it's the perfect time. Our nursery will just be getting furniture that week so everything will be coming at the same time.
We had to plan it early because we have to drive all the way down to LI for it since all of DH's family and most of mine is still down there.

Re: What's the best time for a baby shower?
I'll be about 32 weeks at my Baby Shower. Which I think is perfect timing. Not too early and not too late.

Re: What's the best time for a baby shower?
My first one was at 32 weeks, and I was just getting too big to be comfortable.
I would say about 30 weeks is perfect.

Re: What's the best time for a baby shower?
I was 32 wks. My mom originally was worried that it was too early - but I'm glad she did it when she did. I'm now 37wks and just finishing up getting the extra odds & ends I need and organizing myself. I'm glad I had my shower a while ago so I knew what I needed and had time to get it.

Re: What's the best time for a baby shower?
I was 32 weeks and honestly, I would have preferred it no later than 30 weeks. I was already tired a lot of the time by then, and they had it on a Sunday. I was wiped out and had to go to work the next day.
Then again, I am old so maybe that's why I got tired sooner.

Re: What's the best time for a baby shower?
With DD#1 I was 34 weeks and I think it was good timing. DD turned up 3 weeks early, so good thing it was not much later.

Re: What's the best time for a baby shower?
My shower was pretty late...I was 36 wks. The only reason I would say to have it sooner is that there is so much to be done during the final few weeks before your due date. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed trying to get thank you's done and clothes washed. Thankfully, my mom came over a couple of days after my shower to help me sort through all the presents and put stuff away. I don't think I could ever have done it all without her!
