Ones I recommend:
Book of Mormon (really hard to get tix though)
Jersey Boys
Anything Goes
I'll be seeing Venus in Fur, Newsies and Death of a Salesman in previews soon...can't wait!

It was PHENOMENAL at the Paper Mill. Seriously it was amazing. I have seen a lot of shows, and shows with a lot of big stars in them and I have NEVER seen a show with as much energy from the cast and from the AUDIENCE. The audience was just SO with them. I'm thinking it might be because it was a smaller place that attracted true fans from all over, but I hope it will carry over to Broadway as well.
I saw How to Succeed with Dan Radcliffe. It was very good. I'd say it was the best thing I saw on Broadway all year.
I am dying to see Book of Mormon.
We're going to see Seminar later this month. i've heard it's fantastic.
If you're under 35, you can join hiptix and see anything at the roundabout for $20
You can also see RENT or Avenue Q with 2 for 1 Off Broadway week tickets.

There was a revival a few years back. We saw it with Mario Lopez as the director. It was ok. I was really excited to finally see it on stage - theatre kid. The problem I had with it was that they really made it too much like the original to a point where I felt it was stilted.

I don't see many musicals - but I saw ONCE (based on the Irish film of the same name) at New York Theatre Workshop and it was amazing. It's transferring to broadway in a few days - I wasn't a huge fan of the film, except for that song "falling slowly" but the musical is just wonderful.
Silence! The musical is playing off off broadway at PS 122 in the east village - a musical parody of The Silence of the Lambs. It is HILARIOUS. I didn't stop laughing the whole time - it's so clever.
The Mountaintop is overrated. So is Seminar. Other Desert Cities is very good - but Sons of the Prophet (now closed) was the best thing on stage this season - it might get moved to a broadway theatre, but it's run at the Roundabout ended. It was incredible.
Venus in Fur is very good - Nina Arianda deserves every rave review she has gotten - she is unbelievable.
And Sleep No More is brilliant. Just. freaking. brilliant.

I'm not really a Broadway fan, but saw La Cage aux Folles with my mom and sister and really liked it.
I do want to see Other Desert Cities.
Favorite of all time - Miss Saigon - I sobbed and sobbed (which I never did before kids)
I also loved South Pacific at Lincoln Center

I'm going to see Once once(ha) it opens in previews on Broadway...I've heard mostly great things about its run downtown :)
