What's your least painful location for shots..
My little tummy is all bruised and the pain is horrible this cycle. No icing or room temp meds seem to help. Any other areas that are less painful/painless? My nurse mentioned leg but my legs are stick skinny. I don't think my tummy can take any more shots. It's to the point the needle doesn't even penetrate the skin. Everything is scarred up I think :/

Re: What's your least painful location for shots..
Are you doing it in the same locations? I alternated sides every day which helped me.

Alternating is still not helping :/ Do you go above or below the belly button? Both sides below are all swollen and red. Wondering if I should go above but I don't have any fat to pinch up there. I have no idea where I should go.

On man, I'm sorry you are so sore :(
You can give a subcutaneous injections in the tummy, arm, thighs, and butt. You can go below the belly button too, as long as you stay 1 inch away from it. Just clear it with your RE that you can give yourself the injections elsewhere, but I read that it's ok. Also, ou can inject at a 45 degree angle instead of 90 degrees in places that are really skinny.
ETA: I go to the sides and below the belly button. Alternating each time Image Attachment(s):

Okay so that must be what she meant about the fatty part of the thigh. I'll try that tonight and see if it stings less. Thanks hun

It also depends on the needle and what it is. I did Lupron, gonal f and trigger in the tummy. Almost never felt a thing. Rarely I would get a sting.
I did not like the progesterone in the ass. For many reasons. 1. The size of the needle. 2. The way the oil sat there and developed into a lump. And 3. The anxiety of just waiting for dh to stab me.

I only had my DH do the thigh. just thinking abt the stomach was giving me such anxieties I spent crying for hrs. and I am not even that prone to pain or am I gentle LOL I found that the flashiest part of the thigh, not the very top, but a bit to the side was the best and least painful.
also have to agree w/pp, it def depends on the size of the needle and the meds. menopur is what my nightmares are made of, while gonal f and the hcg trigger were barely felt. ganarilex was painful I think b/c the needle was unnecessarily big.

For some reason, the menopur shots really got to me.... all others including the progesterone in the butt were easier (weird). The best place for me was the tummy and higher up, but I also have extra "padding" everywhere

Re: What's your least painful location for shots..
Did it on my lower belly (fattiest part)
The trick for me was a light pinch. The first few times I was pinching my skin so hard bc I was nervous and it would make it burn, bruise & sometimes Bleed. Then I literally pulled the skin together without a real "pinch" and nothing. no bruising, not much pain and no bleeding

I would do either sides of my belly button and sometimes would dip a little below to give the sides a break.
Sorry you're having issues - I only bruised sometimes, and it was always the menopur - that needle isn't as skinny I think. Anyway, if you're swollen try icing your belly. Maybe that would help.

I agree with Phyllis about doing a light pinch. DH gave me the shot once without pinching the skin and that really hurt. The only other thing that made a difference was doing the shot quickly. If I jabbed the needle in quickly, kind of like jabbing a dart into a dart board, it wasn't as bad. If I hesitated when I was sticking myself, it hurt and bruised more.

Re: What's your least painful location for shots..
Yes, it's totally the menopur causing this drama. The Gonal is the best for me bc the needle is so tiny but the ganirelix and menopur needles barely penetrate the skin. I really have to push it in hard. Maybe it's bc my tummy skin is a bit thickened from some stretch marks? It just is getting too much for me and I'm going to have to just switch locations. Even my acu was surprised how bruised I was. Bah! I hate whining but I have no one else to talk to about this stuff. DH just looks at me and comments how he could never do it and then walks away. I'm going to stab him in his ass one of these days lol

With my first RE he had me do inejctions in the upper, outer part of the thigh. When I was pregnant I also rotated btwn thigh and stomach for the lovenox. I onlu did Menopur in the stomach but its rough and def stings. Good Luck!

Why don't you mix the Menopur and Gonal so it's just one injection. I do that. Less painful and the Menopur doesn't sting that way.

I was able to mix Gonal, Menopur and Lupron so I only had to do 1 shot. Plus, I didn't need to use the sodium chloride, which is what caused the burning. I used the sodium chloride the first time I did the Menopur, but then the nurse told me that as long as the other meds dissolved it, I didn't have to use the sodium chloride.
I did a google search for "gonal f pen" and it looked like exactly what I was using. I just dialed up the dose, put the little needle on, pulled the top thing back and injected the dose into the menopur vial. I always watched to make sure all of the gonal f dripped into the vial. Then I used the menopur syringe to draw it all up and only had to do one shot.

I'm totally asking Dr. T about this. My nurse said absolutely no mixing so I'm curious why the hell not and it will save me the headache of it all!

I'd go with whatever the RE tells you. I'm no pharmacist, but it seems to me that if they're all being injected at the same time, it shouldn't make any difference whether you mix them all together or do separate shots. I was told not to mix them together more than 24 hours in advance, though.
Hopefully, Dr. T will give his blessing to the mixing and spare you some discomfort!
