When (& *how*) do you use crib toys?

I'm about to start putting DS in the crib at night. I have the FP Acquarium. Should I turn this on for him to fall asleep to? Or should I try and make the crib environment most like the bassinet which he is used to and likes? Do you use crib toys to help them fall alseep at all times - bedtime and naps? Or is it really more to entertain them in their crib after they wake?

Thanks!

Well DS is 6 months and not really interested in crib toys yet. The only times I use the soother and the mobile are when he wakes up and I have to put things away in his room. I can usually entertain him in there for 15 min. I'm sure once he becomes mobil he will be more intereted in playing with the other toys in there.

I only had the FP Acquarium and the mobile in his crib. I eventually took both out since - he hated the acquarium and never played with it and when he got older "KING KONG" tore down his mobile.

What we still use and love is the light up turtle. It is not something they can play with though.

when we moved DS to his crib at 5 weeks, we put the aquarium in there. the only thing he had in the bassinet was the mobile which he loved but the mobile we bought for his crib stinks so i don't use it except for show. he had no trouble at all transitioning to the crib. we make it part of our night routine - we put him down, zip up his sleep sack, give him his lovey and turn on the aquarium and his humidifier. he actually turns it on himself now (although i think that is accidentally Chat Icon)
