when a baby has white tongue what does that mean?
my nephew has a really white tonge and it is on his lip also. He is only a week old. My son never had this but she did say that her other son had a white tongue.. i guess what i am asking is if it is normal? what is? what causes it? How do you help it?

It can be a sign of thrush.

Thrush does not go away by itself. The baby will need an antibiotic. Take a damp washcloth, and it some of the white washes off, then more likely it is not thrush, just formula build up.

When I was BF the Doc would check DS tongue for dehydration - a white tongue was good

what is thrush?
Thrush is a fungal infection. It usually requires Nystatin to be treated. It goes away pretty quickly with the medicine.
