When an infant gets allergy tested, what do they do?
I think I may need to get Connor tested for allergies, but I am nervous because he is only 10 months old. I don't want them to poke him with a million needles.
Does anyone know exactly what they do?

My son was allergy tested at 10 months..basically they did the skin test on him..they wrote numbers on his arm and just scraped his skin with the allergens...it didnt phase him at all....It doesnt hurt.

My DS had RAST testing, which is a blood test. They took a few vials of blood, but we did it at the same time as lead testing and a few other things so it might not be as much for just allergies. They only had to stick him with the needle once. We've never had the skin testing, but some doctors do that as well.

My son first had a RAST allergy panel done (they took a few vials of blood) and when one of those came back indicating a severe allergy we went to a pediatric allergiest who then did the skin test. The skin test is the better test of the 2 to determine how severe the allergy is, but our allergist didn't want to see us until he had the RAST done.
