When are you going back to the office?
Our office opened in June for us to go in part time, 2x a week at staggered entry times.
Nobody in my group has returned as we can't meet in person and we are not all there on the same days so we can interact the same from home.
The President is pushing for us to come back in person (our group is refusing - some because of exposure, some because it's a big hassle and really is pointless, some a combo of both) so I was wondering what other companies are doing.

My company never closed the office. Im in building management which is apparently essential. I've worked in the office this whole time.
edited to say we have no staggered work times or schedules ...full office in every day all day, you are very lucky your company is being so accommodating. I can only dream.

When are you going back to the office?
I work for a large university, but I don't work with students (I'm in the Provost office - Business and Finance department). They've pushed us back to January 4, but will reassess when it gets closer. However, the university is considering allowing some positions (like mine) to permanently work from home since I don't need anything in my office and rarely need to meet with others. I really hope that's approved b/c I love working from home!

Re: When are you going back to the office?
I've been working from home off and on for years. At this point, I have no intention of going back to the office. For me, it's a big hassle. I'm in IT, and 99% of the people I support are not on Long Island, so I either remotely fix things from home, or I remotely fix things from a cubicle in an office.

Re: When are you going back to the office?
I work in the city. We’ve been told we will be encouraged to stay Home until June 2021. Only exceptions are allowed in now for people who say they can’t work from home. There was 1 person on my floor that normally holds ~300.
My DH had a we work for a smaller company and they gave it up. So technically there’s no where for him to go back to.

When are you going back to the office?
Depending on the position, some people started in June. I've been told that I have to go into the office 1 day per week and work from home 4 days. Of course, this can be changed at any time.

When are you going back to the office?
My husbands company is pushing for them to come back soon, but his group is holding out.
The state is giving tax cuts to big businesses that bring back employees, which is where the push is coming from. It’s disgusting.

When are you going back to the office?
DH went back in June but works 2 days a week in office. My office was supposed to go back in Sept but they pushed it back to Jan. They did give you the option to go back to the office but need HR approval.

Re: When are you going back to the office?
Our office opened in July for a voluntary return to office. We're only allowed 25% capacity at any given time so we are required to notify the facilities manager beforehand if we plan to be in the office.
I'm reception and considered "essential" however they did not push for me to come back until after labor day. This is my first week back in the office. I'm doing my regular hours but only 2/3 days a week. I have been working from home 5 days a week since March though.
The office is a ghost town. I'm sitting here with very little to do. We're a huge law firm- about 300 attorneys, spanning 5 floors- and there's maybe 4 or 5 people on each floor including assistants, paralegals, and attorneys, more if you include the support staff, but they were required to come back as they are considered essential. They do expect it to pick back up a bit with kids going back to school, but who knows. They've also been very generous this entire quarantine- paying support staff full salary even if they weren't working remotely, giving out bonuses and increases (we get ours in May, so they gave them out in June, and while they were less than expected, it was something.), assuring staff that no one would be furloughed and going so far as to cutting the partners and high level managers pay to ensure there would be no furloughs. But now, they've decided to restructure our support system. MANY jobs are being dissolved and/or going remote. I actually applied for a remote position since it suited me so well the past 6 months. It's really crazy over here!

Are you on Long Island or in the city? I work for a law firm too and our city office is basically empty with the exception of one partner who wanted to be in the office. They are thinking of closing our city office because we just opened a NJ office and they are considering Westchester now.
Our Long Island office is opened at 50%. I have arranged it so that I am in the office when my kids are in school. The attorneys can pretty much come in whenever they want while the support staff are on a strict schedule, mainly because they are all in cubicles in the common areas. I would love to be back at work full time, which I'm sure I would be allowed to do but I'm keeping it as is for the time being. If the schools shut down and I have to be home, I don't want it to be such a drastic change and further highlight differences between myself and my male colleagues.

I'm in Midtown. Honestly, the whole of midtown is empty. I bring my lunch because so many places are still shut down- there's fast food and maybe one or two usual lunch spots but that's it.
Ugh, I hear ya on the school thing. My daughter is only in Pre-K and is fully remote. My son is 1 1/2 and hasn't gone back to daycare. My FIL and my aunt and uncle are all retired and have been rotating watching the kids this week while I'm back at work. This is why I'm hoping to get that remote position- I mean I'll still need childcare so I can work during the day, but I won't have to commute to Midtown and it'll be so much easier- I'll be able to do part time daycare and my daughter won't need before and after school. Of course this is all for when things go back to normal, which who knows when.
ETA: After restructuring with so many jobs being eliminated or going remote permanently, I can't imagine my office keeping all this space. We have 5 floors and we'd probably only need 3. I wouldn't be surprised if they lease them out or something, though there's no plans to do so right now. We actually just spent the last year renovating a floor completely!

When are you going back to the office?
I've been back since June 1. Now I'm working remotely 3x per week because of the school situation and I'm just waiting to be called out on it and dragged back into the office 5 days.

When are you going back to the office?
We had voluntary starting Monday. Only one woman in my dept went back.(she hated WFH) Me personally probably not until next school year when hopefully everything goes back to the way it was. A few of us have elementary children or underlying health issues and our boss is not in any rush to have us back. We can do our jobs from home anyway.

When are you going back to the office?
I have been working from home since mid March, and my company has not updated us with when we are supposed to go back. I am hoping either not till January or let us just work remotely indefinitely. I have been doing my job with no issues since I have been home so why not keep us working from home.

Re: When are you going back to the office?
I am back in person everyday.
My DH works for a large international company. 99% of the company continues to work from home with no end date. He is allowed to go in, but can not go in on the same days as the people who have cubes adjacent to his. He might start going in 1-2x a week to get out of the house and to be able to interact with someone other than me and DS.
I told him lets switch jobs as I am interacting with 60+ people per day and I was pretty content with only interacting with two other people all day since March - LOL

JPM and now Goldman want employees back in office. I think their push will begin the mass returns to office.

When are you going back to the office?
I work in the office of a company that provides healthcare so we were considered essential but they let us wfh a few days a week from March to around early June. In June, they said the building could be at 50% capacity. I go in about 3 to 4 times a week. Some people will come in half days, some come in 1 day a week. It's kind of a free for all. I'm curious to see when they are going to mandate a stricter schedule of everyone coming in more per week.

My business is kind of dependent on people being in offices so I hope so. We are suffering numbers wise right now. But that's also a product of the economic slow down overall so it's a combination of things.
For me, personally, I just want to have the option. Not to force anyone in, but be given an option at a reduced capacity. I don't have that option at all right now. I can't even go in to get some things out of my desk, they have it locked up like Fort Knox.

Re: When are you going back to the office?
i work for an essential company and my work can't be done from home.
during the height of the pandemic, i was actually working 6 days a week. i still haven't had a legal holiday off. my checkbook loves the over time and holiday pay. i'm a bit burned out.
at this point, i'm just looking forward to my first real days off... thanksgiving weekend.

When are you going back to the office?
I'm starting to wonder if I will ever go back on any schedule. I've been working 100% remotely since early March (before schools closed because I am high risk). My NYC office is open, but you have to request to go in- they are monitoring how many people are in each day and making sure they can distance. I work in the Queens office and we are open, anyone can work and I have my own office- but lots of clients come in. DD is doing 100% remote school, so I'm home with her. I'm fine working remotely and have no issues continuing.

When are you going back to the office?
My husband's company is home until at least next summer. I don't think they are ever going back. Honestly from a business standpoint, if they can do the work remotely without loss of revenue or production, why go back. They will save tons on real estate costs.
