When can you start exercising after a vaginal birth?

I'm 8 days PP and not a huge exercise person but ready to kick this into gear. I lost barely anything, and gained 50+
With Ryan I gained 60 and lost it without exercise or diet by 9 months but I'm not looking to do it that slow this time around.
I had a vaginal delivery, no pain drugs, no pain after (needed no motrin or anything). I know with a section you have to wait - but when can you do sit ups and those types of exercises if you did have a c-section?

I had a similar delivery to you (no drugs and no pain meds afterwards). They told me after one week, I was allowed to do some light walking but that's about it. They didn't want me to attempt any type of exercise until they cleared me at the 6 week PP visit. HTH!

Re: When can you start exercising after a vaginal birth?

My dr. told me 6 weeks. Normally he said 4 weeks, but I tore quite a bit and had a lot of stiches, so no sex or anything until my 6 week checkup.

which blows b/c although the scale shows im back to my pp weight, i have a little pooch in the belly so i'd like to start toning up again.

i would maybe start with light stretching, walking and see how you do with that and then maybe move on to something more intense if you feel up to it.
