Hey! Chat Icon
We started oatmeal a little after Mason turned 4 months. He's doing ok with that, and now the Ped said we can start fruit so I mix the fruit in the cereal and he's liking it better.

Re: when did everyone introduce solids

we're waiting until 6 months. our doc told us about some study done by the american board of pediatrics regarding diabetes and the introduction of allergens earlier in life. emma's really got no hope of NOT getting it - so if we can delay it starting, we'd rather. (everyone on my side has it and dave's dad has it too)

saw my sil on saturday and she's normally pretty judgemental and when i told her, she was VERY supportive. she said that her daughter (8 months now) didn't really do 'well' with the solids until 6 months, so with their next, she won't even try until then. i was shocked!

4 1/2 months I started rice cereal. That's all he had until he was 6 months. Then I started him on stage 1 fruitsa nd veggies and I also made my own food.

Re: when did everyone introduce solids

they (drs) used to say 4-6 months...but many articles I am reading now -a-days are saying it is better to wait til the 6 mo mark!

So that is what we did...6 mo for both my 2 yr old and my 9 mo old

4 months exactly. Formula wasn't enough anymore. My DD went from 6oz bottles every 3-4 hrs. to 8oz bottles every 1 1/2 hrs. but would throw them up becuz it was too much liquid. We started cereal and a week later started the Stage 1 foods. She immediately dropped back to 6oz every 3 hrs. and was much more satisfied with the extra food in her belly. Chat Icon

Edit - By 6 months we went through all Stage 1 and 2 foods and she was eating table foods too. Cheese, pancakes, pasta, shredded chicken, scrambled eggs, etc.

Re: when did everyone introduce solids

Its about the stomach developing and not so much he/she needs more food. 4 months is typical. Rush and the stomach may not be able to handle and process it. Of course, every baby is different
