when did u start cleaning DC teeth abd with what??..
DS is 8+ mo, and has 2 bottom teeth...am i supposed to be cleaning his teeth/gums??? how and w/ what? thx!!

As soon as DD had visible teeth, I started using infant toothpaste (ok to be swallowed) and a finger brush. As she got older and more teeth came in, and she started biting my finger  I went to a regular toddler toothbrush.

You should clean a babies mouth with a gauze or a washcloth even before the teeth erupt. Now that the teeth are here you should be brushing them 2x a day with a baby fluoride free toothpaste and a baby toothbrush or baby finger brush

You should clean a babies mouth with a gauze or a washcloth even before the teeth erupt. Now that the teeth are here you should be brushing them 2x a day with a baby fluoride free toothpaste and a baby toothbrush or baby finger brush
oh no...i never cleaned them b4 the teeth...is that bad???

I do the same as twinkletoes does for my kids. I would just start brushing DCs teeth now. DD does not have teeth yet, so for now I use water on a cotton pad or my finger. HTH

our doc said you really just need to get the 'sugar' off of their teeth - so just a piece of wet gauze or kiddie toothpaste is fine.
we use something similar to what's above.
she said a huge no no is putting them to bed with a bottle!

is it considered putting them to bed w/ a bottle...that i feed him a bottle a 9pm but he doesnt always fall asleep right after.....u think i can give him a lil water instead

No I'm sure no damage is done Definitely start brushing after the last bottle at night now 
ETA I'm an RDH and this is the advice I give to my own patients

I use that Elmo toothpaste on Mason... the orajel.
DH calls it a finger condom
Mason is 9 months. We started a few weeks ago. When we were on vacation I didn't do it, but we try every night with bath time

I started brushing my DD's teeth when her first two popped through. I bought Earth's Best Toothpaste and a baby toothbrush. I brush after her breakfast and before bedtime. She does not love the toothbrushing experience, so I try to distract her to get to her teeth.

Before teeth, I used a wet baby wash cloth on his gums. Now he has two teeth, I use a finger brush with no toothpaste.

I am a dental asst so I cave my son Mason a tooth brush even when he was teething to get used to it... we use the oragel Thomas toothpaste.
HE loves to brush now at 2 and It is a fight to get him to stop
