I gave DD pieces of turkey and cheese yesterday. She's 1 - is that too young?

I was giving my son ham when he was about 9/10 months old. Just watch out for the salt.

I would defintiely wait, cold cuts are all processed meats niot very healthy, I would hold off as long as possible.

Not trying to be snarky, but what difference does it make if you give it at 1 or at 2?

I've only given them once or twice, and that's just because we haven't had them in the house in awhile.

Sometimes I give my DD Boar's Head turkey breast with some american cheese. I've been doing that since she was 1.

I look at cold cuts the same way I would junk food such as cookies, chips & stuff, I will not deny DS from ever having them but if I can wait a little longer to introduce this things into his diet then IMO thats the longer he has a healthier diet.

I am a big believer in that a child does not need to have cookies, soda, chips and that type of stuff at 1 or 2 they are too young to even know these foods exist, ofcourse when he gets a little older and wants to try them I will let him, but all in moderation.

We haven't yet. DH and I don't really eat them ourselves. There is a lot of salt in cold cuts. I usually just put leftover grilled chicken on bread.

Never.

Not for any reason other than I don't eat them, so I never have them in the house. Chat Icon

Re: When did you first give DC cold cuts?

I have given Leah some turkey and American Cheese. Compared to a lot of food out there, I don't see much wrong with it...

I think I started around 11 months, cheese probably earlier. DD loves white american and boars head turkey.
