When did you introduce cereal and stage one foods?

Victoria will be 4 months next week and does not have to go back to the pediatrician until Jan. He said she's fine and not to start on any cereal or food yet.

She seems to be okay with her bottle but there are a few times she seems like she can't get enough. She's even tried pulling at my drink in a cup to pull towards her.

Aren't those usually signs or should she be a little more aggressive than she is before you would start her?

I would think she is ready. I started cereal at 4 months and Stage 1 veggies at 5 months

I would try cereal...We did at 4 months and then stage one at like 4.5 months, really just applesauce and then started other stuff later one.

Now, at 6.5 months Christopher pretty much eats 3 meals a day, but for a long time he only got cereal ora fruit or a veggie.

if she's showing interest in your food that can be a sign that shes ready! we started the cereal and stage 1 foods at 4 months and it has gone very well! i personally am so glad we started her when we did b/c she really seems to enjoy it and since she is a stubborn little thing i think starting later would have been trouble. you can just start with the plain cereal for the first 2 weeks them introduce the fruits and/or veggies.

I started at 4.5 months. The ped told me that Josh was still hungry after the milk. He never ate cereal or veggies or fruit. I tried twice a day, then 3 times a day...driving myself insane.

Last week, he just started eating(at 10 months old). All that wasted time and energy. My next one won't start till 6 months.

Wow - Josh never showed any interest in food until now? My ped didn't think she was ready even though I pointed out some signs where I thought she might be

he is a nut. I was told to offer it to him 3 times a day. a jar of fruit would last me 3 daysChat Icon he loved cheerios. that's it.

now, he eats pasta, meatballs, soups, meatloaf, veggies. everything else was 2 bites and he is done. The ped told me he looked hungry, so I kept it up.

I was going to wait until 6 mths, but DS was trying to grab at our food so I took that as a sign he was ready. We started him at 4.5 mths on rice cereal and within a couple of weeks moved into other solids. I really think that if you try and they are not ready they will let you know it.

Re: When did you introduce cereal and stage one foods?

We followed my ped's rec's and that was that all 3 of these be met

13-15 lbs
3-4 months old
drinking at least 32 oz's of formula a day.

we started at almost four months , we moved slow though, at 5 and 1/2 mnths he really just eats cereal in the am with a fruit , and cereal in the pm with a veggie and sometimes we miss one feeding.

Re: When did you introduce cereal and stage one foods?

I started early - at 3 months because Jack was so big and drinking so much formula. He also was showing an interest though in what we were eating.

You can take your time with the solids. You can have her on cereal for as long as you like....then add in a fruit (or veggie) for as long as you like. Jack has had all three cereals now - and applesauce and pears. He tried bananas and they weren't good on his stomach. I think I'll stick with these two fruits and maybe introduce the next one in a week or so.

Re: When did you introduce cereal and stage one foods?

right after ds turned 4 months... for couple of weeks before then, he started eating a lot, probably around 40 oz of breastmilk and he was never satisfied... he woke up every 3 hours to eat... so I started slowly, rice cereal at first... then we went through all the cereals... now he is eating sweet potatoes and I will start squash today...
