When did you start feeling like a mommy?
I originally posted that although my DD is 6 months I sometimes still don't feel as if I'm someone's mommy. Is that weird?
I love DD more than anything and enjoy caring for, playing with her and spending as much time as I can with her, but it still hasn't sunk in that I'm a mommy.

Re: When did it hit you that you were a "mommy"
I don't think it's weird at all
For the 1st couple months every once in awhile DH and I would look at each other and say, we are her parents, we aren't just babysitting
For me it def sunk in as Gianna became more mobile, we got into a better routine and she recognized DH and I and only wanted us.
It def helps when you hear momma or dada too

When did it hit you that you were a mommy?

Don't be silly...
We've all felt the same. I think it really started hitting me after 6 months...

Well, I have 2 girls now and the older one will be 2 in Sept. and I *still* think, "This is my life???" It's still pretty bizarre to me!

Re: When did you start feeling like a mommy?
Sometimes I still feel weird says "my daughter". I always call her "the baby" when referring to her...because when I say "my daughter" it just sounds weird So...I'm right there with ya! Doesn't mean I don't love her

Re: When did you start feeling like a mommy?
Somedays I DON'T feel like someone's mommy at all! I think it hit me when she was about 4 months old. I was finally out of the fog of PPD and had gotten into a solid routine, and that's when it really hit me. But, for the most part, I thought I would feel different or changed, and I really don't. I feel like a better version of me.

this is how I feel too (just replace daughter with son ) I always refer to Niko as the baby or "niko" and not "my son"

Re: When did you start feeling like a mommy?
When I called to get info on adding DD to my insurance, I said, "I need to add my daughter to my policy" and I felt like an imposter.
I still have those moments of "Holy #%$, I'm someone's mom!" But I tell myself it's perfectly normal for such a huge life change to sneak in slowly. I know I am trying to be the best mom I can, and I don't totally "feel" like a mom yet because it's hard to believe that something so amazing happened to me!

Most of the time I dont feel like a mommy...there are times though that I have a "mommy moment" like when Jacob reaches out for me or he looks at me and smiles

Re: When did you start feeling like a mommy?
I remember always feeling so strange wheeling around her stroller in the mall and stuff.
Dh and I still sometimes say "I can't believe we have a baby".

I feel the same way Felicia.
I do say "my son" but I always get this strange feeling when I say it. So I always say "my baby or my sweetie or my little one or little guy.

Re: When did you start feeling like a mommy?
I just had my 2nd child and it literally took about a week for me to call him by his name. I couldn't stop calling him by the nickname we used while I was pregnant. (since we didn't find out the sex beforehand, we came up with a nickname instead of "IT.")
With my first, I would sit and stare at her thinking, "whoa...I am her mom!" It just didn't sink in right away!

It is kind of like when you first get married and start saying "My husband". We are married 5 years and it still seems weird when I say "My husband!"

Re: When did you start feeling like a mommy?
I think the turning point for me is when Alex started talking. On a daily basis I hear "Mommy", wait, no, more like: "Mooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy", about 50 times. When you hear yourself being called Mommy soooo often, it starts to sink in
