When did you start wearing maternity clothes?

For a xmas gift my dad is taking the entire family on a cruise dec 17-22, ill be 16 or 17 weeks then...do you think I will be in maternity then?

I see that all the summery maternity styles are going on sale and clearance now..is it worth it for me to buy it?

I can't offer advice on whether you will be showing (I am only reaching 14w friday) but check the return policy, if you find you can't wear it, you can always return it.
I did this with Old Navy, hoping to wear it when I get bigger and towards the end of the pregnancy.

I was fully in materinity clothes by about 16 weeks or so.

1st pregnancy, I wasn't in materity clothes until about 24-26w. This one, I'm about 10 1/2 weeks and not even close to maternity clothes.

I was in pants by 13-14 weeks. Tops I'm still mixing maternity with old stuff (I'm 18 weeks now).

The return policy in all of the maternity boutiques (incl those in larger department stores, like Macys) S*CKS. They often even make you initial the receipt indicating that you understand this s*cky maternity policy. Plus if you're looking at stuff on clearance, chances are you won't be able to return it anyway.

If you're comfortable with that, go for it. I've purchased all of my maternity pants 1 size up assuming I'll grow into them but at 18 weeks they're still bagging off of my butt If it's just for that one week in December, I'd buy them in your prepregnancy size.

Just an FYI - I asked one of the women at Maternity Works in the Source and she said that they carry bathing suits all year round and most of the online places do carry 'resort wear' year round since many of us do babymoons (I'm going on nov, I'll be 26 weeks, which is why I asked).

I am already in maternity, but I was already a chunky monkey.
So instead of buying clothes a size bigger, I opted for mediums in Old Navy maternity.
I am so vain.

ETA- I am 13w

ETA again- Old Navy maternity has their same 90 day return policy.

i started to wear maternity pants around 20 weeks or so. Now i'm fully in maternity at 32 weeks.

I buy most of my stuff at old navy and kohl's. prices are ok at both and i know old navy takes everything back if you are within that 90 day bracket.

I think that i was 16 wks. you can get away with the baby doll tops and stuff its the pants that is the hard part... most of my shirts are baby doll and i am 34 wks and they fit me that way you can where it even after the baby is born

I was wearing maternity pants with a little elastic (not a panel) by 8-9 wks. It was just bloat, but being in an office job, my regular suits were cutting into my waistline and really uncomfortable (honestly I gained a little weight this year from the first pregnancy and quitting smoking so they were already snug). For tops I went from a size S to M pretty quickly b/c I couldn't really button my blouses for work. I would get yourself some cheap sale stuff if you can - I got stuff on the Target clearance rack for like $6 per pair of pants!

By 17 or 18 weeks I would say things started to get really tight with both pregnancies.

I was in maternity pants by 13-14 weeks. I am now 17.5 weeks and mix between some maternity tops and regular tops (that currently are part of the trend to wear shirts that make one look preggo).

I'm almost 15 weeks and I am wearing half and half. None of my pants fit so I am either using the tummy sleeve or wearing maternity. I would think that in a couple weeks I will probably go all maternity (as long as I do more shopping!). For shirts, I have some regular shirts I can wear and some I can't. I have a some maternity as well but some stuff is still to big. My guess is that you will wear some maternity but also be able to get away with regular clothes if they are "belly friendly".

I bought maternity jeans by 9 weeks. Everything else - I think around 14-15 weeks.

I'll be 17 weeks this week, and I've been wearing maternity pants starting this week but can still get in some size up pants.......tops as long as they are longer I can still wear them.

I'm 12 1/2 weeks and I wore my maternity stuff for the first time today. I've only gained 3lbs so far, but nothing fits and my pants were so tight I just couldn't sqeeze into them anymore. The maternity pants are elastic waitband ones from Target. A little baggy still, but so comfy! I could probalby go with a size up instead but these look pretty nice and I figured they can grow with me.

I didnt really start wearing maternity until 22-23 weeks but i bought a couple pairs of shorts a size or two too big to get me thru the summer. Then I relied on the bigger clothes I already had. I didn't want to waste a ton of money on summer maternity clothes when i knew i wouldnt get much use out of them.

We are going somewhere warm at the end of Oct though and I will be 29 weeks - I picked up two pairs of shorts and some tanks from old navy. The shorts were on sale for $7 and the tanks for $4! If you look for a few summer things now you can get some bargains. Then I borrowed whatever I could from friends that recently gave birth.
