When did your child sit in the front seat?

We occasionally let DS sit in the front when he had a medi port and the back seat belt went over it in a strange way. He has been asking us when he is allowed to againn.

I told my DD 12. I don't know if that's right though. SHe just turned 8 and is super skinny. I'm not sure if it goes by age or weight. I see a lot of people letting their 6,7, and 8 year olds sit in the front.

I dunno, my son is 13 and still sits in the back. It's much safer IMO.

I was surprised to read that there is no law directly enforcing this however:

1. all children under age 7/8 (under 4'9" and 100 lbs) must be in at least a booster seat.

2. no car seats, child restraints are allowed in the front seat

and

3. recommended age, no earlier than 13 (Center for Disease Control) due to airbag deployment. They deploy at 240 miles per hour... if a passenger is not a minimum height/weight they could suffer severe injuries/burns from the airbag.

Several DMV's suggest anyone under 16 ride in the back seat as they are the safest places in case of an accident.

DD is 13 and rarely sits in the front.

I graduated high school at 5'2" and 97lbs so I guess for weight reasons I should have been in a booster I will probably let DD around age 12, that is when I allowed my SS.
