When did your DC start clapping and waving?

Thomas is 8 1/2 months and doesn't clap or wave yet. Sometimes he moves his arm around and looks at his hand when I wave to him as if he's trying to wave, and sometimes he'll clasp his hands together when I clap as if he's thinking about clapping... Is it OK that he doesn't do either yet???

Also, I read that between 9 - 12 months, babies should start to point to objects. It's an important skill in communication. I know he's not even 9 months yet, but he doesn't show any signs of being ready to point to anything. When did your DC start pointing?

Well, we're hitting 7 months tomorrow and Bella's started to clasp her hands together and lightly clap them. As for waving... if this is what you consider waving - she'll shake her arm/hand in the air like she's shaking a rattle, only she's missing the rattle

clapping DD started at 7 months old
waving DD started between 11-12 months

she started pointing end of 11 months

now she points to everything and says " whats this" or "whats that" very clear.

she just turned 1 sat 12/29

DS just started clapping today- He's 8 months. He hasn't really started waving yet.

waving 7 months, clapping 10 months.

No clapping or waving here yet and DD is 9 months. I don't think she'll ever clap as she is always closed fisted!

A close friend of mine says waving is around 1 yr. Troy does a sorta kinda wave, when he feels like it!

Clapping, well, I try to get him to clap to songs and he just sits there as if he's saying "Whatever Mom"

dd began clapping at 8 months or so, as far as waving, she will wave her arm up and down but she does not open and close her hand to wave

she is 9.5 months

DD would clap on occassion around 9 1/2 months and didn't wave until closer to 1. She just started pointing at 13 months. Still no talking. I wouldn't worry at all. As you can see from the responses all children develop differently.

Jayden waves on occasion since he was 7 months and started clapping when he was 8 months. He's 9 months now.

DD is 8 months and does something that looks like waving. No clapping yet.

Matthew at 9 months for both waving and clapping.
Christopher did it at 14 months....and is now starting to wave.

he started clapping around his 8th month. waving..? we're trying to teach him how to do that. i can see that he's trying because his hand would raise up then he would immediately relize that his hand is up. then sets it down. it takes a while, of course. what DH and i have been doing is saying hello to each other while waving to show DS what it all means. DS is now nearly 10.5mos.. we're getting there. ;)

Claps at about 6 1/2 -7 months
waving backwards 7 1/2 months

DS is 7 months old and no waving or clapping yet.
