When do their arms stop freaking them out?
So we thought the MB was our saving grace a few weeks ago but it really only was a hit when Ryan was in his swing. Now he's in the crib and not doing as well and really fights hard to get out of the MB (usually by around 4:30/5AM he's halfway out and I have to unwrap him b/c it's creeping dangerously up). When I unwravel him in the early morning, I usually let him be in the cotton sleep sack (since the AC is pumping in his room). He "seems" to prefer the freedom, and I would like to give it to him b/c he is starting to soothe himself by shoving his fist/fingers in his mouth - but I want him on the video monitor and poor guy wakes himself up every 10-minutes with his own arms. Just wondering when this reflex relaxes a bit and they're not so jumpy wth their own limbs Any thoughts/ideas?

Re: When do their arms stop freaking them out?
I noticed a big difference at 3 months with all his relexes. He used to flinch and wake himself up every night when we put him in the crib now he doesnt even move. Luke is also getting into the habit of soothing himself with his thumb and fingers. I used to rock him to sleep every night, but now when he is drowsy I can put him in his crib he will roll over and suck his thumb for a few minutes and then fall asleep on his own. Last night he worke up after sleeping for 4 hours and I watched him on the monitor, not sure if I should go in or not. He found his fingers after a few minutes and put himself back to sleep!!! If he didnt have access to his hands, I would be in a totally different place. I have heard some people suggest just swaddling or using the MB On the lower half, so his arms are free...
would that work?

Well I think swaddling on top is what makes the difference because it's the arms that wake him. I actually keep his legs out so he can kick around and work out any gas he has. I put Ryan in awake (he doesn't last that long if he falls asleep on my and I transfer him iin - he needs to put himself to sleep, which I prefer). He gets really p*ssed at the MB but it does settle him - but then I find as the night goes on, he decides "no more ma - let me out" and tries to work himself out of it. We're still not doing great in the crib - but getting there (last night he put himself to sleep around 8:45PM and woke up at 11:15PM - I was able to just turn the sleep sheep back on for him and he went back to sleep, then he was up at 2:30AM and I went in to nurse him - back to sleep til around 5 and I noticed he was halfway out of the swaddle so DH got him and brought him into me in bed where I nursed him and we went back to bed til about 8AM).

Re: When do their arms stop freaking them out?
Sweet Caroline you always post about the same things I'm thinking of. Our boys must be very much alike.
I don't know the answer but I'm waiting for the same thing. Dylan is swaddled in the large swaddle me because I he works him self out of the miracle blanket and had it up around his neck one night. He manages to break out of the swaddle me too, but at least it gets him to sleep. If he's not swaddled he can't sleep more than 1/2hour-hour. I can't wait to be able to put him down without swaddling. I'm hoping in the next month or so maybe sooner if he can figure out how to get his fingers to his mouth every time.
