When do you take DC to the ped for a cold/cough?

DS is 10 months and has had a cold on and off for over a month now.

He gets better and then bam, another cold.

He's mucousy and his nose is running, he's coughing, and he's clingy, but nothing that really raises an alarm.

He's had a slight fever here and there (nothing over 99/100) but he's just not getting better.

Should I take him to the ped or just wait it out?

I would take him.....anytime my daughter gets like that she always winds up with an ear infection.....and I find that as soon as she gets a fever its a sure sign of infection.

Same here. I learned that in my kids a cold usually means ear infection. My son had a cold once and seemed fine, then all of a sudden complained about ear pain, so I took him to the doc and his ear drum had already punctured because of the pressure from the infection. Doc said there was no way know he had an infection without him telling me earlier that his ear hurt. So from now on a cold in my house means a visit to the doc to check ears.

I usually wait 7-10 days from the original cough...if it appears to be just a cold.

And if it doesn't get better, every two weeks after that...

Thanks. I will call the ped and see if I can get him in tomorrow.
