this is unprecedented! we just got an email saying that if bloomy closes the schools, then we will be closed too!!

My boss is out this week b/c he had a death in the family. It is now up to me to make the decision for tomorrow and I'm torn on what to do. I told the receptionist I would call her in the a.m. and let her know. I don't think my boss would be mad if we didn't come in, but I feel pressure to make a good decision in his absence.

I work from home, so no chance of closure. In fact, last year when we had the huge blizzard and we were still in offices we had to go in or take a sick day. We're expected to make a lot of sales calls on those days because people are home.

My company never closes. If you don't come in, you must use your own vacation time or work extra hours the rest of the week to make it up. Some "work" from home but not all can since access to the server is limited.

we have a snow chain with four groups. The firsts of the groups are notified by 8am. I am the last in my group but the girl I job share with is the first so after she calls her person, she calls me

we have an 800 number, and they usually will send out text and email alerts either the night before if they've made the decision, or by 6:00 a.m. the day of
i pretty much am assuming i'm staying home tomorrow. my boss is fine with it and we'll deal with the work. its not the end of the world and i'd rather be safe than get stuck somewhere!

Seriously!? You guys NEVER close...at least you didn't when I was there! 
We have an old-fashioned phone-chain here so I should be getting a call before 7am.

I have no idea. Last snow storm they made the decision around noon when they realized that 90% of us will not be showing up. 
We do have an automated system that is supposed to let us know at home whenever they make the decision. They did call us once at 4:30 in the morning (when we had bed bugs) to inform us that the office would indeed still be open.
ETA: But my boss approved my personal day tomorrow!
