When Leaving a Job...
Did work the last 2 weeks full time? LEave early? My job has changed so much and it just got worse. I also have a long commute, hardly get paid anything and spend a lot in daycare, tolls, gas, etc. No raises in a long time and since we got bought out noone knows what's going on. I plan to be a SAHM and eventually go for my Masters.
Anyway, I gave my notice last week. I'll get paid for my vacation time, but not the Floating Holidays I had left. I asked my manager that since Friday is the day b4 a long holiday weekend anyway if I can use my FH. She was surprised. First off in my business it's dead since I work for sales guys that work from home (I was never allowed to). Plus, I'm leaving and will lose the FH. THen she asked if I wanted a half day or full day. THis is also the same woman that b4 my wedding told me I had to work till 5PM and I'm not allowed to leave early. I never even asked her if I could, but I just remember calling her at 4PM letting her know I took care of anything pending and I was all set. She said to stay till 5 knowing I had nothing else to do. She does micro manage, which is another reason I'm leaving to add to the list Anyway, just venting. I know it's only a few more days and so excited to be home and take on my real full time job.

Re: When Leaving a Job...
At my job, you can't take off any time and you wouldn't get paid for you FH after you gave notice.

Re: When Leaving a Job...
iw ork for a smaller company, and we don't have any specific rules, but if i had given notice, i would just finish up my two weeks and call it a day. however, if i had FH left over which I would not be getting paid for, I would schedule that day off before giving notice so I would still get paid that day.

Re: When Leaving a Job...
I don't know that we have a specific policy, but I guarantee my job would not allow us to take the FH after already giving notice and we don't get paid for it either.
At my old job, I did give 2 weeks notice, but they asked me to stay a few days extra and I did even though I REALLY didn't want to.

Re: When Leaving a Job...
If you're leaving anyway - I'd tell her you'd like to take the FH on Friday as a full day. It is your day to take. If she gives you a hard time, I'd perhaps take it up with Human Resources. I mean really, why is she giving you a hard time, you're leaving! Unless of course you want to use this woman as a reference in the future - in that case, I would try not to ruffle any feathers.
Good luck!

Thanks! She is just weird. Likes to micromanage. I do want to leave on good terms, but no... I have no desire to go back into the telecom field ever. For now I want to be a SAHM and go get my Masters in Special Ed. Already spoke with HR and they said I was allowed to use my FH as long as my manager is ok with it. She said she was ok with it, but now seems to be giving me a hard time anyway. No biggie... 3 days left after today!!

Re: When Leaving a Job...
You can use your vacation within your 2 weeks notice.
She's being spiteful. Also I'm not sure if you're salaried, exempt/non-exempt but 1/2 days are a no-no with the Department of Labor (you're supposed to be paid the full day even if you leave early).
to answer your question, I worked full days when I resigned up until the last day & I was told I could leave early. (noonish)

Then you stand your ground and tell her you want Friday as your floating holiday! Good luck with your new position as a SAHM - I'm jealous! Must feel so good to know you'll be away from your spiteful boss in just a few days!!!!!!

Re: When Leaving a Job...
Call out sick Friday morning , you are leaving anyway! When I left my first job, I would come in a little later, I left at lunchtime my last day.
