if i had to i would get a part-time retail job. i can also bartend a little but i don't know if anyone would hire a preggo bartender

I would like to know as well. I see all these adds about working from home saying how much money you can make but I'm not a believer. I don't want to go back to my part-time job because then I won't see my son.
Could you sell something like Tupperware, Mary Kay, etc? If you're good at sales there is the potential to make money there. I saw something on tv last night that tupperwares profits are increasing because more people are turning towards that due to the slumping economy.

I ONLY buy what's on sale--- what we eat for the week is based off what's on sale.. plus I try to buy my niece and nephews birthday gifts (among other people) when I see things I know they'll love on sale, or when DH and I are making more than our average (he's freelance so certain times of the year are slower than others).
I also am a lia sophia advisor and own my own decorativ painting business so in the summer when I do more fairs I do less shows and in the winter when it's a little slower I do more jewelry shows. I also do both around the holidays b/c everyone is looking for gifts.

First I cut out extra expenses like cable, eating out, home phone (keep the cell).
But for extra money I have done graphic design work for local theatres, simulations for small engineering companies, taught quilting classes.
DH does some side work too - theatrical lighting and also computer/network consulting on the side.
If neither one of us could find side work, I'd try to pick up an extra job waitressing or working retail.
ETA: My sister was very successful with Mary Kay, she had the caddy and everything BUT in order to be that successful she put in ALOT of time - mostly nights and weekends because that is when other people are available to have parties.

I buy what's on sale and no luxury items. We skip eating out (even ordering pizza), and we eliminate having people over. B/c gas prices are through the roof, we use one car, or carpool to save on buying gas for 2 cars.
As for jobs - retail jobs may not pay much, but they're available if you look around - whether it's a grocery store, or something.

Plus not going out to eat usually helps us save money.

I just recently read an article at the check out line at the grocery store - to do survival mode. don't go to the store and just eat what you have.
I usually just cut back - I don't buy myself anything except food.
Do you have a BA/BS? you could sign up for subbing at schools (40 days a year)
