when moving into a new house....
what is one of the things you did first besides change the locks?

Change the toilet seats or the entire toilet. Scrub bathrooms & kitchen.

then SCRUB everything clean

Change locks (you said that already)
hired a cleaning service and cleaned along with them as well
Our bedroom carpets and bathroom were brand new so we didnt change that stuff

we had our hardwood floors refinished. the house was empty so we felt it was now or never!

Change toilet seats and scrub EVERYTHING inside and out. Clean out kitchen cabinets, appliances, closets, showers, toilets, etc. I want the house sparkling before I put any of my things in it or start living there. I don't want someone else's icky's kicking around.

This is everything we are doing. Also having an exterminator come, figured let them spray before we move all our stuff in

Clean, clean and then clean some more
changed closet doors (they were not practical)
added additional outlets
had the cable company run wires to every room "just in case we ever wanted a tv there"
changed light fixtures
changed the locks
